I feel sorry for Fitterer coz I think he has the ability to be a good GM, I firmly believe hes being interfered with in his role as GM, all these desperate moves reek of Tepper trying to prove he was right by giving Rhule that contract and money.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Darnold, wouldnt be surprised if hes cut and we swallow the 18m of dead cap. Cant see anyone trading for him unless we are paying like 15m of his salary.

If he starts id expect there to be a heavy run game (much like his past two years in Cleveland) given how late this trade has happened and he needs to learn a new offense.

Most owners now are industrialists or capitalists or sheer opportunists inheriting a team. Football savvy owners are rare, and why you need one such at GM/HC. Even GM/FO is now being overtaken by analytics guys with no actual football experience.

Yes, feel relatively lucky having an owner like Laurie who for the most part does seem to do what is best for the team, Chip Kelly aside & even then it's hard to be too critical of that hire, the guy was just a nut.

The Tacoma News Tribune's Gregg Bell says the Seahawks' plan has been to "roll with" a Geno Smith vs. Drew Lock quarterback battle in 2022.​

With Baker Mayfield now off the market following his Wednesday trade to the Panthers, this locks in the Smith versus Lock summer quarterback competition. Both players are in the final years of their respective contracts, and Bell reports the Seahawks simply want to best position themselves for what is believed to be a "packed" 2023 quarterback draft class. It's going to be an ugly year in Seattle.

Falcons signed DT Eddie Goldman, formerly of the Bears, to a one-year contract.​

The No. 39 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Goldman was released by the Bears back in March in a salary-slashing move. Now 28, Goldman has made 73 career starts across six seasons for Chicago despite opting out of the 2020 campaign. He's a capable body for the Falcons' interior rotation.

The Athletic's Joe Person reports the Panthers don't intend to trade Sam Darnold following Wednesday's acquisition of Baker Mayfield, and they "envision" a training camp competition for the starting job.​

Like Mayfield's deal with the Browns, Darnold's $18.86 million salary for 2022 is guaranteed, so no team is trading for that contract unless serious changes were made to it. While the Panthers are putting it out there that they expect a camp battle between the two 2018 top-three draft picks, it would be a colossal upset if Mayfield isn't under center come Week 1. The Panthers wouldn't have spent all this time searching for quarterbacks if they were comfortable with Darnold as the starter.
