New UK record temperature today of 40.3 degrees in Surrey. We were at 38 in Manchester, it was stifling.

Should be cooler the rest of the week, thankfully. We just aren't used to temperatures around 40.

Start chilling your beer. You'll get it now.

Feel for you all... 40 would be absolutely horrendous over there.

A day of 28 or so feels like 35+ in London. Just no breeze & nowhere cool to go. Absolutely shocking.

Hard to notice the heat when they were permantly shitfaced on gin and tonics (gotta fight malaria)

I remember seeing these pictures of beetroot faced Brits in their heavy wool outfits in the tropics when I was in Sri Lanka. They were ****ing nutters back in those days.

I think i remember Michael Parkinson showing how the British go "Bathing".
Took the hanky out and knotted it, and onto the head. Then rolls up the cuffs of the trousers so that they are barely below the knee, then in...all the way over his ankles.

Easier when you had the locals as slaves.

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

27 degrees here and it's almost midnight. British houses are built to keep the heat in, not keep it out, and the house is like a furnace - must be 35 degrees or more inside.

We hit 36 today, 40 in London, and we might hit 40 tomorrow. It's brutal.
Crack open a window.

Hello Saints peeps.
A few days ago I spotted the below kids novelty footy in a second hand store in Donnybrook WA.
Being a massive fan of Elvis I thought this needs saving from a dusty shop.
Thing is, I’m not a collector of “things” normally and not a Saints supporter so I thought I’d make a gift of it to a Saints fan (preferably a young or indigenous Saints fan) free. I’ll post it. If you’d like it . It’s not particularly valuable it’s synthetic rubber and kids size . It’s from the annual carnival named after the great man .
Anyway if you’d like it send me a BF private message . I’ll post it. No I’m not weird and this isn’t a scam.
Cheers

If it makes you feel any better most Australian homes aren't fitted with central heating (most do have reverse cycle air conditioning though). So there is three of us WFH (large house 4 bedroom and a study) and as the rooms we have converted into offices have no heating we all have two bar electric radiators under our desks.

Currently at 9.00 am 1 degree where I live in Melbourne rising to 5 by 11 am reaching an OK 12 by lunchtime. Coldest it has been in Melbourne over a number of days for many many years.

Even my second wave feminist wife loves Bill Burr, laughed her head off at his thoughts on womens sport and why they aren't paid the same as men :D

I watched it with my girlfriend. She laughed at the same part. Shrugged her shoulders and said "well he has a point".

19 degrees today, an average summer temperature and much more compatible with the Pommy constitution. You can keep your 40 degrees for Perth.
Black Friday in 2009 in Melbourne we had 46.6 degrees with a fierce North Wind blowing. felt like waling into a hair dryer.

That's barbaric. I've never experienced heat here like Sunday, Monday, Tuesday of this week; it was seriously uncomfortable. Like I said, I've only ever known that kind of heat in Spain and Greece. I'm glad it's gone, but no doubt it will become more and more frequent as climate change really kicks in. Almost every summer now sets a new record and winters see regular floods.
