Ward comes across as an intelligent and articulate individual who doesn't think of himself as better than the people he interacts with. Currently trying to study law, but that hasn't eventuated for obvious reasons. He has great leadership qualities and a good footy IQ. Outside of Will Day and Denver Grainger-Barras, I don't see many other players on our list with leadership capabilities. So that leads to me posing this question. Is Ward a potential future captain of the Hawthorn Football Club?
Ward the next captain after Nash

Just a couple of small hurdles before Nash comes under consideration:
1. He has to be automatic best 22 (making progress, but not there yet)
2. He has to be elevated to the leadership group (could follow after 1.)

I think he is made of the right stuff but we don't do Mike Brearley type captains.

Nash seems to be too introverted or shy to be captain and he doesnt lead by example, rather follows example, he is very much a follower type than a leader type, you need a good balance of player types, because too many cooks spoil the broth.

I don’t think we have a leadership group?

Loved the chat. I want him to speak more, he talks so well and he seems to have a huge footy iq.

But agree with him, he’ll definitely be back in the midfield and no doubt sooner rather than later.
I thought he was ok in his interview but came across a bit dull. However, he is young and will grow into it.

I thought it was good, again spoke cleanly and yeah I can get the vibe sometimes but for the most part AFL360 brings the worst out of rookies 😂 it’s weird but I’ve noticed a big difference in talking of all clubs rookies from 360 to their post game chats they publish. Maybe just me 🤷‍♂️

A bit like an accountant, but in the premiership years he will become one of the most reliable players for his team mates, they will know exactly what his going to do.

Good to have these types in the team to balance everyone out

Much prefer a dull type with our first pick! Seems like a really good kid and person that’s willing to do everything to get the best out of himself.

He's an absolute blue chip midfielder. Like Trent Cotchin in 2007, was a standout midfielder that dominated under 18s on the inside and outside, highly intelligent, natural leader and intensely driven. Very high floor.

A bit dull!! Was you expecting Ward to ask Robbo for his Julius Marlow mid interview so he could do a shoey to keep you entertained?
He was a bit dull in his interview and that is ok. Compare him to DGB who has a bit of chutzpah as an example.

He is far from dull on the field and that is where it matters.
