AFL Fixture 2025

I won’t provide identifying details but someone close to me spent a bit of time with a number of Hawks players this offseason and in a social setting the question came up of what sort of chance do the Hawks players think they have of winning the whole thing this year. “The boys believe they have every chance, and if not this year then next for sure,” was the paraphrased answer.

Some other tidbits:

* Sam Mitchell is a hard man. He drives the players very hard but they don’t mind. They are up for the challenge he sets.

* The learning curve on how to be a professional footballer is very steep for some youngsters and Sam does not tolerate slow learning. He has even less tolerance for senior players that tolerate new players not meeting the standard. (The story relayed to me gave me humorous Full Metal Jacket boot camp vibes where the DI made all the men do pushups because that one guy had a jelly donut in his footlocker. “Pyle has failed because you all have failed me!”)

* The competition for spots is very fierce but the players trust it is fair. The men who get a spot have earned the spot.

While Collingwood and Richmond do get much bigger crowds, they often draw similar crowds than these for these fixtures at the mcg.
As did hawthorn 2012-2016 bigger crowds I mean.
Also with Tassie games there’s less chance of being in top time slots for crowds. Let’s see what 2025 brings.

Anyway it’s more likely a hawks v brisbane or Sydney would be competing for MCG time with carlton or Essendon than richmond or Collingwood.

I dint see the angst and think this list has been cherry picked as worst possible case

If I really wanted to cherry pick to prove my point I could have included GWS and Gold Coast games at the G which draw horrendous numbers. I’m also not drawing any parallels to Richmond and Collingwood hence I never mentioned them. People are saying that its ‘mind boggling’ that Port aren’t playing us at the G when it’s nothing of the sort and is absolutely beneficial to our bottom line that they’re not.

I don’t know if it has been spoken about but I really like our double ups. Crows May challenge us but I think we have them covered, unless the Demons sort their shit out they are on the decline (possibly even if they do sort it), Magpies we have had the wood over and are aging hard, especially in the midfield, who actually bloody knows with the Blues, Power will be massive and hard fought games, can’t see either team backing down now and the Lions will be tough but we’ve played them very well recently.

I think it looks good.

If Collingwood improve next season and the Suns actually sort their shit out for once then Brisbane's double ups are going to be bloody interesting.

Agreed, plus I'm happy that we don't play the Swans, Cats, Dogs, Suns, Bombers or Freo twice. They all have a point to prove.

Bulldogs again...

They smacked us twice last year pre season.
That had a few select Dogs fans up and about, and a supposed Hawks fan whining about how useless the club was for selecting Wiz over Sanders.

Was great to see how stupid we made them look by season's end!

Some of the new gogglebox participants are either boring or annoying

It’s run it’s race
I can't think of anything worse than watching people watch TV. I don't even watch the crap on TV why would i want to watch others do it.

I have only seen 1 episode of it as he's a neighbour so I was curious about it.

The dialogue about Hawthorn making a mistake picking Watson because Sanders looked better IN THEIR FIRST PRACTICE MATCH OF THEIR FIRST SEASON was hilarious at the time and even funnier come Elimination Final night.

My main issue with our draw is getting bloody Gold Coast in Darwin at night. Guaranteed loss that one. The kinda game that could be the difference between making top 4 or not

These Gather Round tickets are a joke.

Say there are multiple sections with upwards of 10 tickets remaining, but you can't even select one.

Have also missed out on tickets to the Norwood games, which is where we stay.

Does anyone know if there much availability/reliability in resale for this past year? That looks to be our only chance.

Poor fixture all things considered as well.

Collingwood vs Sydney
Carlton vs West Coast
Melbourne vs Essendon

All horrific games from a neutral fan perspective. Not really worth making the trip for any of them.

Sorry if it's been mentioned by why are Geelong playing Essendon, St Kilda & Richmond twice?

I dare say that if you look on a website like Tixel or even keep an eye out on facebook marketplace something for Norwood should come up.

As for the Adelaide Oval matches, I reckon they'll definitely release more. Last year they were selling tickets at the gate for peanuts on Saturday night because people left after the day/twilight games. Risky however if you're from interstate.
