You won’t find many players in the league on less than 300k so $$ wise I really don’t think it’s a big deal and we desperately need some players in his position.

I’m just not sure if we should be bothering with someone who’s managed 24 games in 5 years whos never really shown much promise

But also, you do get an extra 5 years to your career based on being 200+cm alone so I guess it completes his journey

The league average rises to 370k this year so if he cements a spot its value

I’d love Bailey Smith. He’s worth a million imo.

Fairytale year for sure, but we need to be realistic. We are talking about 2023/24 and beyond.
With a couple of key additions there’s no reason why we can’t be challenging next year. You’ve gone beyond realistic in to the realms of pessimistic.

We don’t need Frampton tbh, if McStay is coming in as expected, the big question is whether the club is viewing him as the solution at key back or at key forward.

We still have Krueger who the club committed to for 3 years (and he really impressed me in the very limited minutes early in the year). He is certainly someone with the size to play key back if we do intend for McStay to play key forward.

I am of the belief that McStay should be plugged in as our key back. He can free up Moore to play his preferred role as the floating intercepter.

I think Poulters future relies on his ability to put on weight.

On a wing, doesn’t have enough pace/kicking skills etc to make much of an impact IMO.

But in some of his earlier games at AFL level, he showed an appetite for the contest, but was just to skinny and got pushed of the ball too easily.

His hope is becoming a big bodied 194cm insider, which he won’t do if he remains take thin.

Ever had a mate go from CHF in a top 4 side to FB in an ‘intermediate’ team??

Ever??

1. We are 2nd, Brisbane are 5th
2. Why is CHF better than FB? From all reports Moore prefers to play FB over CHF, perhaps this is the same for McStay
3. Money talks
4. He is Victorian

Poulter is a skinny unicorn.

Rantall was a beast and it was frustrating he left.

My concern with Poulter is that he forms part of the family tree related to Reef McInnes/Pick 2 trade. At the moment, neither team is winning nor losing. The fourth rounder found its way to Brisbane in exchange for points that were used on Daicos. It would be useful if the AFL documented trades more clearly as Wikipedia can only be used for so much.
I'm sorry but what! I'm sure Rantall's 2k time trial game you a super chubby but there was the slight problem he couldn't play!! So you wanted to hang onto Jay and ditch Poults, that begs the question, do you watch Collingwood play?

I'm not saying we should have held onto Rantall instead of Poulter, just it was frustrating we let him go. He was good as a tagger and proved that against Parish.

And yes, I do watch Collingwood.

Maybe he will develop and he is still young, however my main issue with Poulter is that he is a 194cm wingman but he doesn't really use that height to his advantage. He might as well be 180cm. He looks very one paced, one sided and his kicking doesn't look great he also doesn't get a tonne of the ball. He looks like he has next to no weapons. He can run out a game well and can cover good distances but so could Rantall.

He has a better natural kick then Rantall and also from the games I've watched he gets up and down the wing in into space often, pace isn't slow just not jet. More pendles like in pace.

From all reports it's nor his offensive work they are working on rather his defensive stuff.

I think his kicking is usually good. 50-55m kick quick trajectory and not sky balls.

Like a lot of juniors needs to build strength, size and repeat effort endurance to make sure he isn't fluffing them.

What do you see as his strengths that justify his retention?

Runs the lines well, often finds himself I space, I think overall his kicking is good but at this stage in his development inconsistent.
Regularly in the 20s disp wise, is 194cm.

If bloody Tyler Brown 10-12 disposal a game for 3 to 4 years, can get 5 seasons you don't kick someone to the curb who is already superior in many as per role dependant obvs after year 2.

Many players have 2nd year blues too, his height I'd be extending by a season. You need good B graders in the 22 he could well easily become such.

I also thought rantall delisting was premature.

Poults by a mile and there is still doubt in my mind he makes it.
Rantall was right up there with one of our worst selections and we sure have made a few.

to play devils advocate, there are a few guys in the vfl that may never pay another AFL game and which should be moved on so the money / cap shouldnt be an issue.

Frampton has at least played senior footy and had some AFL size. Right now we desperate for a big key back to release Howe (and yeah next year maybe different) so guessing he is a break glass in case of emergency. If that's the case I'd prefer they talk to Darcey Gardiner.

PS 300k is a throw at the stumps imo.
My issue is most have described Frampton as a third tall so he doesn’t seem like the big key back to free up Moore and Howe. If Fly, Leppa, Wright and co see him that way I’ll back them though.
