Lol @ how much the commentators are struggling with player recognition atm.

And knowledge too, lol when he called " Sasha Goranova the Claremont Premiership player" .... not quite dipstick ..... she would have been, IF our Club had allowed her to play in the Grand Final.

A decision to this day that I just don't get , or agree with.
Sure there was a slim chance that she ( you can also add Ella Smith into the conversation as well ) may have been injured, OR you could look at things with a positive perspective and say .... The girls would have learnt a lot and gained invaluable experience by playing in a pressure cooker game like a Grand Final.

Funny enough Fremantle had no problem with Scanlon playing in the GF.

One Club has a glass half full attitude.
The other has a glass half empty attitude.

If I was a cynic, I might just say that sort of sums up where the two Clubs are at the minute.

Rant over .... bitter " table for one " .

Speaking of positives, there were lots of green shoots in the way the girls played today and much to like with what they showed us this afternoon.

I watched most of the game, and our girls were screwed over by the umps, by the non-decisions, particularly dropping the ball. Terrible umpiring! Terrible conditions, I know, but you still have to pay them when they are so obvious.

Devastating news for Shanae Davison who did her ACL in the derby.

Ashleigh Gomes has been added to the list.

Mannnnnn 😢 everyone (the playing group) has been so hype saying she finally had a good pre season run and that she was the one to watch this season. She has had a horror run with injury this far, hopefully she can turn it around.

What do we know about Gomes?

24 (turns 25 next month), captains EF and runner up in the Dhara Kerr medal (tied with E.Smith).

Not sure why someone with that resume wasn’t already on a list tbh.

Not blessed with quick acceleration - but will get from contest to contest. Smart user of the footy, tackles hard and cracks in. Tough but fair footballer.

Good human, always has time to say hello.

She was my pick to replace Kara Antonio if Freo made her inactive....so this has taken my by surprise

WCE do love a Freo Train On

With the addition of a hard inside mid in Gomes, here is the updated position by age profile. Starting to see some hard edges in as inside mids

Happy to get suggestions for corrections on classification.

I do realise Roberts can basically play anywhere so I have given her my highest ranking of balanced midfielder. Kind of like our Bont/Dusty - where would you like to play her?

If Cameron was getting paid what Nic Nat was, and if the majority of supporters viewed the women's comp the way they viewed the men's, she would be.

Amongst those that pay attention to the women's team, her weight and fitness is mentioned quite a bit.

That there are people who don't like the idea of a woman's weight being discussed, and who might object if it was, wouldn't stop that discussion from occurring, if she had Nic Nat like status.

If the AFLW were on low salaries and part-time then it's a bit much to be too critical of players for their weight although I'm sure all clubs want players at full fitness. With the new enterprise agreement and players I'm assuming transitioning to becoming full time players then I see no issue in questioning why there are fat players running around.

In the AFL if your skinfolds are silly high you would expect to be banished to lower leagues until your body and attitude was up to scratch. Why should AFLW be any different?
