When the men were part timers I doubt there was a lot of comments about player X being overweight and out of shape (hell, check out the shape of some of the guys in the non-full time mens' leagues today).
Looking at our girls yesterday we look lean, mean & strong. They ran really hard & fast so I'm guessing Starcs has been putting extra demands on them fitness wise.

Has been since day 1. Just takes a few seasons to reach where a lot of them are at in their physical development and stamina.

Starce was in charge of our fitness regime back in the glory days wasn’t he?

Hodder looked like she was carrying a few NRL pounds when she started in 2020/21. She was having some midfield impact but drifting in and out of games in 2021/22. This year she is playing some fantastic footy, getting to more contests and having a real impact in both the forward line and midfield. Its going to take 2-3 years for the rest of the expansion league to reach a similar level. We have to make hay whilst the sun shines and get a cup or two in this period.

So the final score from this game could easily have been Cats 9 to Tigers 11

That would give the 4 points to Tigers and they would be in 8th spot on % with 122.2%
The Cats would now be 0 points and would slip from 8th spot with 136.4% down to 11th spot on 81.8%

2 - Vision confirms umpire error in tense win

THE AFL has confirmed Geelong's Georgie Prespakis should not have taken a last-minute free kick that resulted in the winning goal against Richmond on Sunday.

The AFL has ticked off the free kick itself and the downfield element of the free, but confirmed Prespakis should not have taken the kick, which she converted to seal the win for the Cats.

Behind-the-goals vision obtained by womens.afl indicates Chloe Scheer was the closest player to the ball when the free kick was paid and therefore should have taken the shot at goal.

Different knee. I never know if that's a good thing or not. You would think it's better than re-injuring the same knee.

Our mens club track record isnt great for double ACLs and careers...Claye Beams, Sam Skinner, Callum Barlett, I think Bryze Retzlaff did two as well?

Feels double cruel to see history quite literally repeat itself...

NOTE THIS IS A NEWS ARTICLE FROM EARLIER THIS YEAR REGARDING GABBY

bloody hell thats some sad news. Hope she has a good recovery. I wonder if there will be better methods for minimizing ACL's in the future, a horrible injury :(

Fair bit of research going in to women athletes and acl injuries.

It appears women are far more susceptible to acl’s. But you would have to visit the thread on the AFLW board for a proper explanation.

Expansion had to happen sooner rather than later IMO. The standard was always going to take a hit as a result, but it will recover, given time.

We're lucky to have been less affected than most other clubs - let's make hay while the sun shines, eh?

I think we'll at the very least make the GF this year because we've kept our list together. Look levels above every team I've seen play thus far, but find myself inherently disinterested in watching aflw because of the low standard of some teams compared to others. I don't mean that in any disrespectful way, but just feel this rapid expansion is going to do more damage than good.
