played 15 today

Shows how much attention I was paying lol. In my defence I've been pretty hungover all day after last night.

IIRC the 12 limit during the regular season is something we arranged with Peel directly, so that may be open to negotiation week to week.

if thats the case then its interesting that in my screenshot on the last page that (i) mentions the 12 player cap but nothing above that actually mentions the cap, then (ii) says to disregard (i) if the AFL side is still playing AFL.

Slight chance of no 12 cap due to Freo playing finals?

You're right, that wording does make it look like we can play as many as we want.

Shame we're not playing Subi this week so we can see them sook again.

Hamling sent forward for the last 15 minutes, players tried to get him a goal

Are we getting a retirement at the end of the season? can't buy him a goal in a finals series so maybe this was the chance?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a retirement after Peels season
That crossed my mind as well

I thought it was a WAFL ruling.

For finals it is, but the decision to apply the 12 limit in regular season games was an agreement between Peel and Freo I think.

That's what I heard earlier in the year anyway, it's hard to find much info online about it.

Taberner is named, but I don't think he'll be able to play after this week - and maybe there'll be no reason to play him tomorrow since Freoo aren't looking to get him back into AFL condition. Might be a late change there.

Think Colyer might be in the same boat too where he hasn't played enough WAFL games over the season to qualify for finals beyond this weekend.

Taberner will swap with Amiss next week (if Peel win)

Colyer has played 6 games including the finals so he might be eligible? if finals don't count then you would expect Western in for him

EDIT: actually there is a little more to it for Colyer, I forgot the whole medi sub/travelling emergency rule which greys the waters, if Trav was travelling medisub or emergency and didn't play then it counts as a WAFL game, Idno if he had 2 of those this year though, don't think he did

Still value in playing him to maximise our chances today. Still a lot of value in our developing players getting experience playing as deep as possible in big finals games.

I doubt that is correct, my assumption would be that since Freo played this weekend that he is fine to play. Freo are not out of finals in terms of selection until next weekend.

Without knowing the rules fully i think the following will happen.Kuek in for Taberner as i think the rules state that players who have not qualified for wafl finals can only play while the afl team is in the finals. You need to have played the required games by the last fixture so i doubt collyer will play as finals games do not count. Also anyone who has been a medi sub and is unused gets credited with a afl game and match payment so i am not sure you would get credited with a wafl game.

If he has time to get back. Be good if he did. Another high pressure game on the wing. Might need him next season for that role. Would like to know if he is possibly good enough.
He was at Melbourne airport for the 6:30am flight back to Perth this morning with all the women’s team. I’d expect him to play today.

What do you mean by this? Why would being an unused medisub/emergency in the AFL count towards your WAFL game tally?
