im glad its two firsts. Good. We aren't selling him, teams are calling us. This should be the stance we take. Pay up or piss off.

Fitterer did say In the CMC press conference yesterday that the price on Burns will be astronomical and that he highly doubts any team will pay up or that hes going anywhere.

Exactly. Took him at pick 15 , been worth that and then some. Why would you sell him for less when he has potentially another 7 or so years of elite level play. Makes no sense.

If you traded him to the Texans, say, for a first and second (plus a mid or late rounder), you'd get a #2 and #34, which would be returning more than what was spent on him.

The tweet does say "an NFL general manager" so thats not necessarily what the Panthers would be willing take. Agree though that their price should be high but that said, wasn't their opening position on CMac 2 1sts?...

No, that report was false, it was A FIRST or MULTIPLE PICKS (equaling a first)... somewhere along the line a journo turned it into multiple firsts.

I'm not trying to do the obnoxious fans who claim you have to trade with their team thing, but isn't the answer because drafting a player gets you his rookie contract, and not his next contract?

Does he want to play the next seven years in Carolina, or would he rather compete for superbowls now?

We can franchise him if worst comes to worst, there is literally no reason to trade him now, nor have I even heard that he wants to leave. Maybe hes happier making a shit tone of money than winning at this stage of his career.
