Ok maybe.

Not really the point.

JHF had also played significant chunks of senior footy and got significant opportunity in the worst side in the comp.
Jason Horne ****face was also a significant contributor to us being shit. Aside from a couple of games, he wasn't carrying his share of the load in the amount of time he was given playing in the middle. No other team would have sacrificed massive clearance losses to gift him experience playing in the middle.

I don't doubt you. I simply don't believe champion data. Maybe that's just me, but the odd cameo here and there cannot possibly enable a player to be rated amongst the best in any company.

He averaged close to 17 possessions a game, with the bulk of that contested. He was top 20 in the comp for clearances at the end of the first 3rd of the season. He won our best first year player over Paul Curtis who was bloody great.

I think the whinging and crying and refusal to do team things, coupled with his exit has impacted peoples perceptions of him.

All good. I hate him so I’m not going to bother advocating for him. He can get stuffed

I don't hate him but I think he's a fool. He has been badly advised and has acted unprofessionally.

Agree that he can get stuffed ;)

He was ****en good. That's why i'm so pissed off. At the same time he stopped giving 100% after about a quarter of the season and we made excuses and defended him. Which adds to the annoyance.

Honestly, if WAP was just a little better kick (ie more penetration) i'd say he was as good too. How he goes at port will tell us alot i spose, not just about him but about how we handled him.

I think Will's greatest attributes will be his leadership, his team spirit, and his capacity for bringing teammates into the game. I can't say Jason was blessed with those abilities.

I think some people seriously underrate Will just commentating simply on his leadership etc and I can’t wait for him to let some of his football do the talking.

He’s got some seriously elite physical attributes, ultra clean, great skills and can accumulate.

Likely Will becomes our sides version of Touk Miller.

If they are his greatest attributes cool cos he'll still be a shit hot footballer.

I didn't know anything about his leadership skills but watching his highlights from before he got drafted he was the player I wanted us to take with our pick. If he could kick 5-10 m further with the same accuracy and penetration then imo he'd have gone at pick 1.

Yeah, JHF was, and will continue to be, very *en good. People here are downplaying that aspect just because they're (rightly) p!ssed off with him.

Spot on.
He didn't have a massive game or even quarter that made you go "pick 1"
He accumulated and showed flashes but he didn't scream a marquee player.
Apparently was injured so I guess we should cut some slack.

JHF...never heard of her.

How about the legs on WPhil though. I'd like to know what he's squatting at the moment because he's got some serious quads for a 20 year old

He's going to be able to stand up in tackles and pick his options like the truly elite.

Just as we talked about when Will was drafted, he was essentially elite in all his position categories as are all the top 5 players in a draft, however his intangibles that you measure from his interactions with others and interviews (leadership, grit, determination) were well off the charts and suggested that he can be greater than the sum of his draft night skills.

Nothing has changed, and if anything his journey looks to have made him more zeroed on what he wants. Very much looking forward to, and expecting him being one of our stars in our premiership runs, and would not be surprised to see him in the leadership group as early as next season.

Some kids use adversity as fuel, some crumble when faced with it. Will sits in the former it would seem.

Hearing ever more impressive stuff about him off field - around the cub off field that is.

No details worthy of repaeting or Big Stories, more just a multitude of little things cropping up conversations that led to you going jeez this kid is the real deal.

He does what he says he'll do, the best he can, and he comes up with ideas to make himself and his teammates and everybody around him at the club better and follows through there too.
