Missed the speedster, billy hartung
By number of players you are right but by impact - none of them really soared after they left us.

Bulldogs on the other hand did get some guys from us who have done well - suckling (even though he missed the GF), duryea and o’brien (jury still out)
Suckling, Duryea and O’Brien (so far) we’re better at Hawthorn

What about guys we want to have in our colours?

So we should not express our aspirations to have those guys in our colours?

Aspirations are swell. People who talk about it as a certainty because X player grew up a massive Hawthorn supporter are more likely than not going to be disappointed.

Hmm, I reckon absolutely best case scenario they are going to be the Carlton of 2022
Much more likely is that they are going to be the Hawthorn of 2022. Being the Giants of 2022 also a good possibility.
They'd want to hope that they are not going to be the North of 2022

If Clarko manages any of that then he’ll deserve compensation coach of the year

Evening all ,
Firstly have a great and safe Christmas and New Year whatever you are doing or whatever you choose to do .
No biggie but Im taking a little break from BF Footy boards for a little bit, just a nice recharge before we watch our exciting young group get geared for 2023 .

A big thankyou to everyone who posts SC updates eg Twitter , updates from the club and the highly valued track updates and training reports. Your work and effort is highly appreciated and makes this board a hugely beneficial stop for us Hawthorn supporters.
ITK - thanks for your intel and willingness to post , knowing that things can change and you may be open to ' unhappy ' posters .

All posters here , we all have one thing in common our love for the our mighty hawks .....however we may express it .
Take care all , see you in 2023 🙂

The Gunston surgery. Will cost him the season.

I thought the same thing when Gunston's surgery was estimated as a return "early half of the season". Back surgery not to be underestimated.

Everyone is different especially when it comes to back injuries but as a Carlton fan you’d be hoping the fact that he’s only 22 with way less kms on the speedo allows him to come back in the shorter forecasted time. It’s important to remember that Gunners was 28 or 29 when he had his back surgery and had hardly missed many games up until the season he had that iliotibial band injury which I have a feeling eventually contributed to his back issues.

Also after that iliotibial band injury his goal accuracy was never the same again. He was missing shots from 30 meters out that he never missed in the 3peat years. Hopefully for Jack the Brisbane medical department can get him right like they did with Birch and others that have gone there. By the time we’re contending again he’ll be long retired so outside of seeing him in a Lions gernsey against us it will won’t hurt so much.
