Green sidelined for home summer with broken finger

Cameron Green will not bowl in South Africa's second innings at the MCG and will miss the Sydney Test and the KFC BBL to recover in time for the India tour

So he won't bowl, but will probably field and bat? Weird call.

At the very least, surely send all the fit players out before Green/Starc
It makes a little sense to split them up I guess. If Green gets out they can send out Starc. If Carey gets out, they can send out Boland. I wouldn't mind seeing a Green/Starc partnership though at it would be an entertaining period.

Can't see him fielding with a broken digit, especially in a catching position.

Let's hope not, personally I think his finger getting hit by a ball when batting is a big risk in itself and don't get why he's out there.

Is there something in the rules I'm missing here?

The Australians are trying to show SA that their fast bowling doesn’t intimidate them - even if they break their fingers and they don’t need the runs. It’s all mind games

Outside of Ashwin, have any opposition spinners done well in Australia in the past 10 years?
It's a shame the Afghanistan Test never eventuated, would have been interesting to see how our batsmen would have fared against Rashid.

He has 39 wickets at 42.15 in Australia. Strike rate of 86.2

Well below is career averages and only in South Africa does he have a worse record

So even he has done poorly here

I think the consistent bounce on most Australian pitches does visiting spinners in. Warne and Lyon were both able to use the extra bounce to their advantage - they both have/had great success in Brisbane

You must've seen the 2 good spells of the day; the majority of the bowling was rubbish. Not knocking Warner's 200 in those conditions but SA attack was very disappointing.

Nortje’s spells today were elite. At that pace and precision in that heat was amazing. Jansen bowled one decent spell against smith. All the other bowlers were hot garbage.

Last two tours he has 18 wickets @ 27.5. Struggled like everyone else his first few trips but has turned it around

This does not sit well with my OCD tendencies. Having a ball left in the over but his stats are 20 complete overs due to him getting cramp last night. Yuck

I wish they'd pick a different colour for the three types of balls a batsmen has hit (dots, runs, boundaries). I'm colour blind and I can't pick the difference between the yellow and green. Couldn't they make one blue?

Nobody likes blue balls.

Is the aim to get Carey to 100 then declare or still too early?

Two bowlers down they have to keep getting runs surely? Green might as well get a ton on the way to his holiday
