"Simmo, we've run out of witches hats for the midfield drills!"

"Right. Foley chuck on a hi-vis vest and stand right there. Keep still now!"
Not the end of the world for Foley. He can take inspiration for the jumping bag that over took bailey for a ruck spot in the match sim

Real nothing burger of a training session today. Players only out there for a little of an hour and only did pretty low intensity drills in the time they were out there

There was also a significant number of players not there or doing light duties -
• Hurn, Waterman, Barnett, Baker, Shuey, Allen, JWilliams, Chesser, Jones and Duggan all were on light duties
• Trew, Bazzo and Darling all no shows
• Edwards of the Luke variety and Petch both did running on the outer oval. Both were moving at good pace so I’d guess it’s not long before they return to the main group

Little details
• Dewar completed the session in full. Skills look good albeit there was little to no pressure. He’s also very slightly built
• When they did split into line groups, Hewett was pulled from the mids and joined the forwards
• Burgiel looked a bit bigger than I recall seeing him pre-Christmas
• Not sure how long it will take to happen, but I can see Long becoming a crowd favourite. Nice clean skills, think he’ll be an opportunist goal sneak and looks to be a bouncy/happy sort of personality
• The club was nice enough to have the superbowl playing on the electronic scoreboard which was more interesting than the training tbh.
• They then pulled a total dick move and turned it off with less than a minute to play as the players had all left
• Journos were asking the WCE media handler about Darling but were getting donuts. Not even a time frame
Was Baker there during the warmup? I couldn't see him.

Only time I spotted him is when he came out about 45 minutes in and had a quick chat with a couple of the S&C staff on the opposite oval before heading inside again.

To be honest I don't think I've seen him do any training in the last two weeks. My guess is he's got a groin/back/hip issue or something which makes it hard to do anything. You often get those types of injury in draftees whose bodies struggle to adjust to the sudden increase in workload when they get drafted.

We might not see much of Trew for the next few weeks at least, his mum is dealing with advanced terminal cancer. Like with Bazzo you'd think the club gives him as much time as he needs and hopefully provides him with plenty of support.

As you said, it was a bit of a nothing training session. Hopefully we get a better indication on where some of those guys you mentioned at the top are at in Friday's intraclub. Hopefully most are at the stage where they're getting some minutes.

Those weight belts on Sheed and O'Neil look an awful lot like the mystery bulge under Naitanui's jumper that had so many people convinced he was still overweight.

Thought Dewar was drafted as a fwd? Seemed to play exculsively as a small fwd in the u18 champs.

That afl article said he was a defensive prospect. Maybe that was just his demeanor.

There was a group of about 5-6 players that were handballing/kicking to each other early on (Hurn, Waterman, Barnett, Duggan) that I’m pretty sure Baker was with at least initially. Didn’t spend much time watching that group as they were near the big shed so a fair way away and also not doing much so I’m not sure how long he stayed out for

And yeah, the situation with Trew’s mum slipped my mind and that may well explain his absence

Terrible news on Trew
