Yes we’ve ultimately been unsuccessful for ten years , competitive but unsuccessful I agree . I also agree that Ken has some flaws and I would’ve liked a new coach this year but can see he reasons why they’re letting him see out his contract wether it was the right call to reappoint him at the time was a good decision or not .
My point is get behind the team , Don’t just constantly poo poo everyone and everything
A lot on here wouldn’t have anything to say if it wasn’t negative.
They already have us dead before a ball is bounced.
All aboard the Brisbane Bandwagon, gee I hope we beat them just for all the laughs I’ll get from these so called Port supporters.
Bring it on Boys!

True as . You only have to go on the preview of round 1 v Brisbane . Nobodies even talking about it unless it’s to quickly say we’ll get whooped .
Call me old school but I’m arghhh for the game . We had a flat pre season last year but got pumped for round 2 but we got a flat tyre then a wheel fell off .
Like you say be fun to pop in for a look if we do win lol

Why are these people planning to visit the board just to mix a batch if we win round one? It doesn't mean anything. We're literally just waiting to sack Hinkley.

Makes you wonder how many pet memberships are in that current 50k tally if they're now flogging an 11game ticket for essentially half price

Unless Richo has since gone full Disingenuous Thunderdome, ‘pet memberships’ never counted to the unaudited in-house tally.

It’s just a gimmicky way to extract an extra drop of profit out of existing members branded in such a way that sounds more appealing than, “hey, we bought a few thousand cheap dog bowls/bone-shaped soft toys/collar ornaments, want one?”

I finally cancelled the two I had for roughly a decade or more (2 x $30 these days) this season, in a flamboyant huff.

The implication that no one that sees little prospect in a winning season could take pleasure in a win over what should be a flag-contending Brisbane is just bizarre.

All available evidence indicates our club should be prepping for round one with increasing sizes of anal plugs. Talking a contrary view is surely just, like, trying to put some positive vibes out there man.

And let’s say we do. And it’s a genuinely impressive win, packed with positive signs. Like, we didn’t have to rely on Brisbane losing 3 men in the first quarter to explosive gastro or whatever.

Would it kill Ken to behave like that’s simply the standard, no biggie, instead of windmilling like we’re a village team that’s just knocked Man City out of the FA Cup?

All clubs are fudging these bullshit membership numbers. Carlton were flogging this promotion last week of buy a 3-game membership and automatically get an extra 3 games. They will probably be reported as full memberships

From the final 2022 AFL audited final figures and what I wrote in August last year in the 2022 membership thread from a couple of posts is in italics..

Home = all 11 home games
Home and away = Vic clubs that can sell 15/16/17/18 game passes for the 3 stadiums in Melbourne including 11 home games.

The 1,190,671 number surpasses the record of 1,113,441 that was set in 2021. The 2022 total is 6.9 per cent growth on last year.

approx 488,000 of 1,190,000 have access to home games or home and away games or 38%, rest are made up reduced access or Stadium and AFL members.

"AFLW membership increased again after its sixth season, with an all-time record 48,712 members signing up. Sydney Swans (4,388) led all clubs despite not having played a game in season six, followed by NAB AFLW Premiers Adelaide Crows (4,219) and St Kilda (4,055), leading the AFLW membership tally. " so this probably is at end of April figure as below says 70k members at end of August.
[most of Port's AFLW members would have been in the 2022 audited figures but some would be in the 2023 figure as they would have been sold after the cut off point. 2023 AFLW memberships haven't been offered up yet as the AFL again hasn't told the clubs what the bloody hell is happening with the 2023 AFLW season re games to be played dates etc]

14 of the 18 AFL clubs broke their all-time records - Brisbane Lions, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fremantle, Geelong Cats, Gold Coast SUNS, GWS Giants, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, St Kilda, and Western Bulldogs all setting a new membership benchmark.

AFL have given info on the membership churn rate for the first time in over a decade.

Last year there was 1,113,441 and 939,104 renewed so a renewal rate of 84.5% and churn rate of 15.5%.

205k have reduced access to games eg the 5 game country pass sold around the nation for country members, who cant make Thursday night or Friday night games so they chose 5 other home games, or reduced stadium access like 4 games for Tassie Hawks members for York Park, or 4 games for Tassie North members for Bellrive Oval, or Vic clubs who play a few games at their 2nd "home ground.,"

3 games pass is marketed around the nation as a limited membership. That's 143k.

There are about 55,000 AFL members who could get access to about 45 games, but only 49k of them tick a club support box and get included in the 1.119m total.

My guess is the 10,247 stadium members are the 6,400 AO Footy members and one other ground that has just footy access membership and are called stadium members, but don't buy a $5k-$6k 12 month membership to all events at the stadium like the 1,455 AO Audi Club Stadium members or the 1,385 Perth Stadium members.

The Auskickers probably get a 3 game pass.

Remember last year only about 6400 people bought a AO Footy membership instead of the usual 8,000. Its why the club didn't publish a figure before Christmas 2021 and then said they hit 50,000 at Christmas in January 2022, and then there was a 6,000 bump "overnight" in January 2023. It was all because AO Footy membership isn't as attractive as it used to be, and the politics and PR spin around that meant the SMA didn't want to release official figures at Christmas 2021 and Christmas 2022 to the 2 SA clubs, who still bloody count them as part of their totals and AFL adjusts it in August. The usual spin and games has to be played. I wrote this before I wrote the above.

The usual downward adjustment is 72% of 8,000 AO Football Members = 5,760

This year the downward adjustment is 63,240 - 58,643 = 4,597.

That is mainly because the AOSMA didn't sell 8,000 Football Memberships. When the bye rounds were on they were offering a 40% discount as only about 6,000 memberships were sold, so they asked people to pay approx 60% of the original cost for 56% ie 12 of 22 games remaining.

That means the SMA only sold about 6,400 memberships ie 4,597/0.72. So looks like only about 400 people took up the offer.

So Ports total contains approx 1,800 AOFM and crows 4,600 AOFM

Adelaide 63,009 (2021 60,232 - up 2,777)......... - 4,600 AOFM = 58,409
Port Adelaide 58,643^ (2021 56,532 - up 2,111) - 1,800 AOFM = 56,843

If Port's churn rate is the same as the AFL's 2022 average of 15.5%, then about 9,800 2022 members wont renew in 2023.
