LDU getting some more love from Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge, 25:47 in for 2017 draft revisited.

For those not interested in watching, Cal rates him no. 2 behind Andrew Brayshaw, due to Brayshaw having more accolades to date (MVP, All Australian, B'n'F), Riley rates him no. 2 behind Aaron Naughton, due to KPFs being harder to find. Both think LDU may have a higher ceiling than Brayshaw.

Still not rated by betting agencies? Not that I give 2 shits about the Brownlow, most pointless award in the comp

Probably more us than him. All those sides probably win double the amount of games as us. The fact he’s next after that list shows that he is definitely rated by betting agencies.

How tf is Nick Daicos the favourite lol. LDU has been playing better for a longer period.

Anyways yeah, AFLCA is the most valuable award since the people who decide it actually understand how much impact a player has.

It’s all to do with bets placed.

Betting agencies adjust odds by the amount of money they stand to lose.

More money for LDU the shorter his price will be.

In his last 9 matches, LDU has polled 48 coaches' votes including four perfect tens. Miller and Olver tied to win it last year with 98 votes. If the last 9 rounds he has played is the new normal for LDU then he could poll in the vicinity of 120 votes over the whole season. That would take an enormous effort to beat.

Great at 10-pin bowling too

The pivot and instant change of direction off his right foot is ****ing insane.

Because I'm a bit of a nerd and had some time on my hands this afternoon I have collated all the coaches' votes for the last 9 home and away rounds. The following table shows the top 20. The number one should be no surprise to North fans. The player ranked eleven may surprise a few!

Blicavs and Josh Daicos (he's been very good in any of the Coll games I have watched in the last year) the only names on that list that aren't either super talented up and coming players or already stars of the comp. Considering that we are 3-6 over that stretch of games makes LDU and Larks performances even more impressive.

Any idea on corresponding Brownlow votes for the 2022 portion of that?

My unsurprising hunch is North players don't get votes.

People talking about Finn Maginness tagging LDU, as if he's going to be able to stop him. Dude is averaging one tackle this year. LDU too fast, too smart and too strong.

Maginness is rapt he'll be on all the AFL shows next week. Every burst of congestion by LDU will show Maginness's face in the background. LDU's 2 bounce, goal from 50 will have Maginness grimacing as he tries to stay in the frame. As LDU celebrates said goal we'll see Maginness bounced in the background by Zurharr while KT pats him on the head.

Oh the media exposure in store for Maginness

One of the best U18 highlights reels ever.

One of the key things I liked about Brayden George's game that stood out about Paul Curtis' game too at junior level was how often they hit the scoreboard, and in different ways.

Despite playing for a fairly poor Western Jets side, Paul Curtis would regularly have 5-6 shots on goal minimum, all in different ways, ditto Brayden George. They're both extremely strong, so taking marks in 1-on-1 contests or pushing their opponent off a 50/50 ground ball would lead to scoring opportunities. They both fly for marks and can crumb a ground ball. They're both quick off the mark so they get separation on the lead and apply good defensive pressure when the ball hits the deck. They've both got natural goal sense and know where to be and when to be there.

Brayden George is obviously more a medium/3rd tall type, whereas Paul Curtis is more a small forward, but both of them are going to be extremely hard match-ups playing in the same forward line.

It's bloody exciting to imagine what these 2 blokes will be 3 years from now.

And then throw in the potential for Sheeel to eventually make his way back into the forward line....

Sheezel, George and Curtis in the same forward line is absolutely insane and a major headache for opposition coaches.

How was George's endurance projecting in his bottom age year? Any midfield potential?

What injury does Brayden have souup? Also what draft position would he have likely been taken without this injury preventing him from football this year?

I could be wrong but i think he’s said he wanted to get stuck into the midfield himself. So either his endurance is pretty good or he’s prepared to work on it.

Also what draft position would he have likely been taken without this injury preventing him from football this year?

He was expected to go in the top 10 from memory.

680 on the yo-yo during pre-season testing 2022.

For comparison, here are some North players pre-season yo-yo testing in their drafted years so you have some comparison:
Sheezel 1040
Goater 560
Miller Bergman 800
Blake Drury 720
Paul Curtis 520

Personally, I wouldn't be playing him in the midfield. There was a lot of talk last year from junior football watchers that he should play some midfield before the knee injury, but I've never been a fan of the idea or think it's necessary. He's a very dynamic forward and he's never been a high possession winner, I don't see it working out personally but I've been wrong heaps of times before.

He could have some potential as a midfielder but considering our list, I'm not sure forcing it is necessary.

I had him ~12-15ish before his injury, and then dropped him to around 25 post-injury from memory.

I know a lot him top 10 before his knee injury.
