Sometimes I think I would take the four day work week and hit to the hip pocket, but no longer in a post covid inflation world is that feasible.

Given the tax implications for lowering your income, it's definitely not a full 20% decrease you cop.

I've cut back in a few other areas and it seems to be working out ok.

I've been planting the seed of 4x10 hour shifts instead of the 5x8 hours shifts at work... HR at the moment don't think it would work at the moment... I'll keep up the good fight...

On a former job I was involved with getting approval for nurses we managed to work longer, fewer shifts. In this case it was 7x11 per fortnight. There were loads of studies championing the benefits, in that industry at least.

I worked 4x10 myself for six months once and it was awesome.

I only see positives.. one day it will happen... I hope...

It’s a good stop gap. 4x8 with no pay reduction will happen in our lifetimes, but probably not soon enough for you and I to personally benefit.

nah it won't take that long imo.. it's already out there. of course not everyone will get the chance... but i bet in 10 years if you shop around quite a lot of jobs will offer it..

I don't mind working (I like my job) but having a better work life balance would be amazing.. extra day for chores around the house... family time... Going away...

I would probably drink more but 🤔

One of the best features of Skyrim is how you are having serious conversations with an NPC and some other NPC wanders up and just starts shouting THERE IS A NIP IN THE AIR, THIS WILL BE BAD FOR MY CROPS! so loudly you can't hear what the person you are actually talking to is saying.

The 8 hour 5 day work week was fine when women were basically indentured servants who cooked and cleaned and ran the house. You could come home from work, indulge in mild alcoholism and domestic abuse then put your feet up.

On a basic salary you could afford a house, model t Ford and half a dozen kids.

These days to put a roof over your head on a basic salary you need two incomes, and someone still needs to do all the domestic work. And most people can't afford kids.

3 10 hour days a week and 4 days off. at full pay. that's livin'
I was doing 4 10hr days in the mid 90s, awesome days. My boss at the time used to let me move my day off around the weather as well. I had a 13ft tinny at the time, so always tried to grab the day under 10knots where I could 😁

Unfortunately he got promoted and moved departments, new guy came in and couldn't manage a roster to save his life. He forced everyone back to 5 8 hour days. I left inside a year.

I've been chasing the same arrangement ever since and unfortunately never found it.
A few places happy to give me a 4 day week but at 80% pay. I never sign up for it though because I know they'll all expect the same output as if I was working 5 days.

Where I am now, there's a couple of departments that work 24hrs x 7 days. They have shift workers signed up to 3 x 12hrs days, 4 days off. They absolutely love it.
Unfortunately I'm not qualified for the role so can't get a look in.

I do laugh when people complain about how the stage 3 tax cuts favours the rich.

I always think back to the early 90s and Kerry Packer getting away with paying no personal income tax.

If you're making over well over $200k you can afford a decent accountant to set you up with trusts, SMSF, non profis, company structures and the like to make all you tax bills go away.

Not quite true. That pesky GST still has to be paid and generally you have to pay some tax somewhere, whether company, contributions or personal.

True, but once you've made it to the majors, you get the overseas tax haven set up and do most of your shopping overseas where you can claim the VAT back as you leave. I'm sure PWC can help you work your way through it.

Oh don't forget your receipt to claim back the fuel excise you pay as you fill up the RAM.

Just about to move to a 9 day fortnight
Can't wait for a Long Weekend every second week
