We also have to remember that while an extra hour's drive won't make much of a difference, money can, and money talks. Hopefully our direction and the money offered is reasonable. He's still not prone to some brainfades himself, and I'm sure those miskicks/dumb decisions have brought him down to Earth a little. No one is only going to sign for 2 years as a FA, would be an idiotic manager to advise that move

You get Anzac Day, Dreamtime, full house in norfs grand final, add in KBE, why would you leave a club on the up an absolute powerhouse of the league ? He’ll get a deserved healthy pay rise, no way he leaves.

Whether it works or not I like that we are doing all we can to retain a key structural piece like Redman. There's absolutely no benefit to losing a 25 year old Redman right as he enters his prime and potentially wins his first AA.
Like Ridley he's really an ideal defender. Versatile, skilled, quick and can play on a range of players. There's barely any better small defenders in the entire league so its not like we'll be able to upgrade him. Plus he's a well liked and respected player - you never hear a bad word about him and it seems he's been building as a leader too.

Whilst you love to get a bargain I'd like to think that if salary is the key issue we should be able to reach an agreement. If its non salary related well then sometimes you have to accept it.

If he were to end up leaving well at least he's leaving when he's at peak value so in that sense the timing is good but it'd be a fair blow to our current build.
