It was posted here, separately, that Boomer and Ratten were asked to take on full time roles and declined. She may well be right.

Is it just by chance that he his gone after we lost the chance to acquire young Blakey when his FA was comming up

At the time I wondered if his mega deal wasn't in part because the swans were afraid of him heading to us.

The specific thing I heard about Ratten (from reading bigfooty, I don't have any inside word on this matter) is that he wanted a director of coaching position. So basically a rung in the ladder between Clarkson and Viney? Don't know why we would think that's necessary. Director of coaching is generally a job where an older coach presides over a young, unproven coach and gives them guidance... but Clarkson obviously doesn't need that, at least any more than what Viney already provides.

I wont argue that, but one wonders how he was hanging on to his role till now

That said, its worked out for his son whatever the reasons, so as a dad I'm sure he would be a happy bloke.

Nothing surprising in any of this. Clarko hasn’t swung the axe upon his arrival but is now doing so after having a good look from the inside.

Regarding Blakey in particular, our backline hasn’t functioned well at all, even allowing for personnel issues. Given Blakey has been there for a few years and most of the defenders weren’t new to the club, you’d expect a better synergy down there.

Well we are working hard to remove one piece of the puzzle that’s causing us problems.
Not Blakeys fault, our inability to run both ways and lend support is a massive issue.
