A public service announcement:

This is a game of football, an important one, but still just a game of football. Life will go on afterwards. Life will temporarily be a lot brighter if we win, but either way we continue on.

The players will do their best even when they don’t get everything right. A mistake or fatigue or a skill error or a poor decision doesn’t mean they are weak or half-hearted or don’t care. They are human, in a high pressure situation in front of thousands of people and doing everything they can. Their opponents are doing the same.

Before you post some rant about a player, perhaps consider if that was your son, or your brother or your friend out there. How would you want people to talk about them? Be the best version of yourself the way you would want the players to be the best versions of themselves.

After the game, win or lose, we can be assured our players gave it everything they had. If we win, our good players aren’t superhuman, if we lose our good players are still the same good players they were last week. Be proud of them either way.

Life will go on.

Yes, this, but also know that for the next 7 days you have the whole of Victoria on your side. Your victories are our victories. Your losses are our losses. Please stuff these bastards tonight. And please stuff those bastards next week. Please.

IMG_0440.jpeg Remember 2015? One of us is guaranteed to make a grand final now which is a testament to the joys of equalisation.

Stoked to see the number 1 and number 2 pick battle it out! Schache vs Weitering is always a classic matchup.

They know he's coming.

Do people REALLY think umpires have a bias towards certain teams or are being directed to allow them to win? My first 20 years was spent as a Collingwood supporter, the next 30+ as a Brisbane supporter, and it seems EVERY club's fans think the umpires have a set against them or in favour of someone else.

I just don't believe it. If I did, I don't think I could be a fan anymore, because what's the point of the whole thing is rigged?

Obviously there are decisions that are clearly wrong or mystifying, but the conspiracy theories don't add up to me. I do think umpires can be influenced by heavily partisan crowd reactions like last night, and the fear of not getting a game the following week. This feels more like incompetence than corruption though.

Couldn't agree more, incompetence over conspiracy.

Being labelled a conspiracy theorist is often used as a pretty cutting slur, not so re umpires/the AFL getting together to fix matches though.

Don’t go near the Richmond board…

I've been supporting this club for 16 years, I never got to experience what it's like to see my team make a grand final appearance.
It’s an awesome experience , I am just hoping our boys get to do it .
Those 4 years of greatness will live with me forever

Reckon they have earnt it .

Nick Robertson's dad was good value.

+ I also have a sneaking suspicion that 3KZ is Football is Ryan Lester's God Father.

There have been a few others over the years, family and friends of players who have been here. Mostly they have chosen to not make themselves known too publicly for obvious reasons. In one case the person found this place supportive and informative, but they were different times and he only revealed who he was to me as his player was retiring.

Hoping for some advice from those who have been living here longer than I!

I'm attempting mission impossible tonight: I have tickets to both the Lions and the Broncos.

Apparently there will be buses going direct from the Gabba to Lang Park.

What is everyone's thoughts on the fastest mode of transport? My personal view is I'm still backing myself on foot... I've done the walk in 39 minutes before and reckon I could get there in 30 or so with a bit of running down the hills on the way etc.

I think scooters are out simply because of the foot traffic that will be around, and I still think the buses will be an absolute sh!tfight.

Any advice welcome!
Just read the article you linked.
I think shuttle buses would be the best option. You may have to wait 10-15 minutes but they drop you off at the ground.
So, i would try "Wooloongabba Platform one" first. Six buses is a lot to cover people with Broncos & Lions tickets.
Hopefully the Lions have the game wrapped up 5 minutes from the end so you can leave early.

Woolloongabba bus station is basically closed off to all bar two services for 1 hour after the game.
These are the services that terminate at Wooloongabba so don't need to cross the intersection that is closed.
It is only two services but still a queue. You need to avoid those two lines and find the Lang Park one.
Don't be timid walk around people till you find it.

If for some reason you think the queue is too long (i doubt it) continue walking to the next bus station being the Mater.
This won't take long and you are still walking in the direction of Lang Park. But the shuttle bus queue may be still quicker.
The Mater is where i used to walk to and get my bus home.
Most buses go to city from there and quite a lot go to Roma Street bus station. Buses bypass Wooloongabba but stop at The Mater
Not too far to walk to Lang Park from Roma Street

The article mentions bus route 61 That is my bus and it will not stop at Woolloongabba till 1 hour after the game finishes.
However, 61 does stop at The Mater like all other services that bypass Woolloongabba for that hour.
But roads are closed around Lang park so route 61 usually has to avoid its usual route down Caxton Street.
But it does stop at Roma street. Just ask the driver if you try that one.

If you end up walking scooters an option once you get past the majority of foot traffic.
Good luck

It's the same with any form of SM. Just opinions , rants ,personal bias and emotions.

The real truth often doesn't get much of a look in. Or on rare occasions too much.

Anyone sensible who has a personal involvement in whatever the issue is would be far better off not reading any of it.
