It was Emily Bates on the ground so I won't be surprised if Hodder went little more than tapping. I didn't see Girls show any aggro towards Bodey but Bates coped a fair bit.
Usually the girls get on well with the departees, Bates must have done something to annoy them when she left .

You can see Hodder's kick in the background of this shot. Shithouse stuff really, and she'll rightly be fined. Will probably get off a suspension on insufficient force but really stupid.

That wasn't a kick. It was a love tap. Just a gentle remember me, I'M HERE ....

Did not see the game but based on that clip it didn't look like a kick. More like a light tap.
She retraced her leg and extended it in to the player on the ground. If she'd done that to the ball and it went through the goals, we'd be spewing if it was called a behind because it was only a tap, not a kick. ;)

Hypothetically, if we play Hawthorn in the grand final who hosts out of us and them? Do they host since they finished higher in the season or do we play them at Springfield since we'd be the higher finals seed?

Lol yeah saw that and the desperate comment about gifting us Fages, Hodge and Birchal to “get us back on track”😂
Weird flex considering their current AFLW coach, captain and one of the goalkicking forwards are all donations from our club. All of them made them competitive and the new game plan straightaway got them to finals.

In comparison, Fagan came over as unknown quantity from an AFL coaching perspective and we were climbing off wooden spoon during Hodge days. Strange claim from them.

The 2023 NAB AFLW Grand Final will be held on Sunday December 3 with the highest ranked club earning the home ground hosting rights.

The highest ranked club is determined by the following criteria:

  • Ahead of Week One of Finals, teams are ranked according to the Home and Away Season finishing ladder.
  • Following Week One of Finals, the two winning teams from the Qualifying Finals are automatically ranked as 1st and 2nd heading into the Preliminary Finals (position 1 going to the higher of the two teams per the home and away finishing ladder).
    • This is currently 1. North Melbourne, 2. Brisbane
  • The losing side from the two Qualifying Finals are automatically ranked 3rd and 4th (position 3 going to the higher of the two teams per the home and away finishing ladder).
    • This is currently 3. Adelaide Crows, 4. Melbourne
  • The two winners of the Elimination Finals are automatically ranked 5th and 6th (position 5 going to the higher of the two teams per the home and away finishing ladder).
    • This is currently 5. Geelong Cats, 6. Sydney Swans
The highest ranked winner from the Preliminary Finals will host the Grand Final based on the rankings set after Week One of Finals.

Yeah, they're using it as an example from last year when the league clarified what the host ranking order was since Lions [4th] beat Crows [1st] and North [3rd] beat Dees [2nd].

After this weekend the order for hosting rights in the GF is: North, Lions, Hawks, Crows, Freo, Port.

For those watching what was the go with the after siren push and shove? Dawes was laying on the ground by herself after kicking the ball, surely hawks couldn’t be aggrieved from the football collision she was involved in.
She went to ground in relief after the siren , that’s all .

AFL is reporting that there was an alleged comment from the crowd about Bates that contributed to the push & shove. Seems a few of our players aren't that friendly with Bates after she left, for rumoured reasons...

Not necessarily related, and doesn't really impact us, but this is why I'm struggling to comprehend why Geelong have pick 15 in the men's draft while Port have pick 16. As far as I'm concerned, Geelong finished 3rd and Port 4th, so their draft positions should reflect that.

Port finished 2nd and Geelong 3rd.
Played in a Qualifying Final in Adelaide.
And both lost in Prelims.

So after Finals Port would have finished 3rd and Geelong 4th.

Yes, but after Geelong beat Port, under the guidelines laid out above, Geelong would have been seeded #2 and Port #3.

So to me those rankings should have extended to the end of the season, where both losing their Prelim Finals sees Geelong shift to #3 and Port #4.

Pretty sure that only happen in the Women’s game.
Not to say I don’t agree.
