Belle Dawes suspended for 1 match. No match review news yet....good or are he/she or they deliberating?
Belle Dawes has been offered a one-match suspension for charging Hawthorn's Ainslie Kemp during Sunday's qualifying final. Graded as careless conduct, medium impact, high contact. She would miss the preliminary final.
Surprised she isn’t being cited for charging for that oneRuby is a pocket rocket. Like Hodder.
Surely we challenge. Pretty sure the Hawk player was sconed by the ball or just the whiplash. What a steaming pile of shit. How was Belle supposed to pull up in time?? There was absolutely nothing malicious in that contact. It's not Belle's fault the Hawks player is soft as wet tissue paper.
My read of the incident at the time was that the ball was in dispute. From Belle's POV her first though was to win the ball and then get a handball out, hence leaving her feet. Then she senses she won't win the ball but is committed so for a split second look to tackle. She then realises she's too high and pull her arms back, but her momentum carries her through. All this happens in probably less than a second.
Brisbane has confirmed that the AFL Integrity Unit is investigating a number of incidents following the heated conclusion to the Lions' AFLW finals victory over Hawthorn at Princes Park on Sunday.
Brisbane confirmed to ABC Sport it was aware the AFL was looking into the matter, but would leave it with the integrity unit.
We're challenging the ban.
Brisbane will challenge the suspension handed to midfielder Belle Dawes — one of the Lions’ best players — as she faces the prospect of missing her team’s preliminary final.
Probably the post-siren biff considering no one is exactly sure what happened there.Or are they investigating Hawthorn for fighting after the siren and refusing to shake hands.
Dawes is free to play in the prelim after a 2 hour plus tribunal hearing.
