You left out has no pace and plays with a complete lack of urgency or any sort of intensity. If you're not competitive it doesn't matter how good the skills are.

He’ll end up being picked up in the 30s, it’s not like a club will waste a top 10 pick on him. You can take a risk.

I’d rather draft a player with neat skills that’s slow, then a fast player that butchers the ball.

Slow and doesn't have a big engine, there's a reason he's sinking like a stone.

I'm not an advocate for taking Moir, but his agility results at the Combine were very good and don't suggest he is a complete slouch in terms of his leg speed.

If we want him, and I think he’d be a great value pick, we’re going to need to somehow move up to get him

Maybe watch him play a game, struggles to find the pill and hasn't got much interest when the opposition has the ball add to that he doesn't have speed or workrate and it isn't a winning combination. Moir isn't a late gem he's a lump of coal at the next level, clubs have gone off him.

As I said, I'm not an advocate for us taking him.

I have watched him play. Went to the game and watched him play Vic Country at Ikon Park live. Otherwise online.
He did a couple of classy things, but wasn't involved much.
Tyler Welsh was much more imposing as a forward in terms of marking, imposing himself and converting that day.

I was merely addressing your suggestion that he is slow. He isn't slow. He has instead lacked intensity, which is something different.

Remember when people said that current AA, Copeland trophy, premiership player Josh Daicos was slow, lacked intensity but had lots of natural talent in his draft year?

I do.

I do remember that this was very much the common thought at the time. I've just had a quick browse of his thread for a laugh, picking a random page from the 2019 season and here are a sample of some of the first comments I saw:

"He simply doesn’t have many trick. Not quick, lacks penetration with his kicking, too short to be an aerial threat.I personally don’t think he will make it"

"I don't like his chances."

"Too soft and not athletic enough for the modern game as a peripheral flanker type."

"Daicos is one paced and physically unimposing. Not the make up which takes a player far in the modern game."

"He doesn't scream elite or weapon in any area. If he had another surname, would we have taken him?"

"For Josh to succeed with his lack of pace and body size, his skill would have to equal his father's."

"Move on. Or are they waiting for the second Daicos to arrive. Use to be lineball between him and Callum. Callum is now streets ahead. Daicos has such slow reaction time."

"This kid needs to get himself an apprenticeship as a hairdresser. Would be far better suited."

"We just need to keep him around until Nick is drafted. Then after Nick’s second season, we can delist Josh like we did to Cameron and Jason Cloke after Travis second season."

This was all on one page. Quite the turn around from Josh to defy all the arm chair experts who wanted him gone!

Josh and Murphy are two of my howlers. Although not quite up with me saying: he'll just be a flaky flanker - about a young kid having a good game in the ressies - James Hird.

So you've just come to the realisation that people who can't judge talent post on BF. Most of these posts I'm guessing were from people who never watched him play, I could post even more examples of people who had watched him coming through and thought Josh looked a good prospect. Stringing together a couple of ill-informed opinions hardly makes it a group thought at the time, very disingenuous.

It was, if you're Jack DeLean! As for Ashton the fumbling, dropped marks, poor tackling and missing targets is also featured in this 'highlights' package. Just what AFL clubs are looking for.
Do you realise:
a) it isn't a "highlights" package
b) ridiculous hyperbole doesn't further your point.

You do realise this was his best game of the Champs and therefore is the champs highlights package because he did bugger all in the other games.

Don't know where the narrative that Josh Daicos had all these knockers is coming from but this is just one profile which were mostly positive at the time. The Apex belief that Ashton Moir has had a similar journey to Josh Daicos and this justifies us picking him needs to die in the cradle.

If you really think that was a disingenuous selection of quotes then have a look for yourself. I selected page 50 in his player thread.

Most people could see the potential with his skills and natural ability but at the time it was absolutely the popular opinion that he lacked the physical intensity for this level. Even Josh himself has since spoken publicly about how he struggled with asthma in his first few years which made it hard for him to build his strength and fitness to the required level. He himself has said that there were even times where he wasn't sure whether he was going to make it. Or was he being disingenuous too?

Reminds a bit of LDU. What about Harley Reid, as soon as he gets the ball he's like a mime artist, always sticking his arms and hands out
Bit of Kyle Langford about him I reckon. Tall with good skills and pretty composed. Aerially proficient at 190cm and looks like he could play a lot of positions. I’d like to develop him as a winger primarily.
