I think a lot of our improvement has come through the trade period.

We were the 3rd lowest scoring side and scored under 65 points the most out of any side.

We simply were unable to win games because we couldn't score enough.

Chol, Ginnivan and Gunston to a lesser extent are big ins. We look like a forward line who is dangerous and can score.

Are you a time traveller, Mr P? All I have seen so far is changes in the list. I am hopeful, but reluctant to call improvement until I see the hard evidence in the 2024 W/L ratio

Good to see so many senior players back early. An acknowledgement that we need to work harder to surpass the opposition, it's not going to just happen.

It also highlights how much more competition there is for spots now. I wrote out this team yesterday based on some of the interviews that alluded to some new player positions:

FB: Hardwick Blanck Impey
HB: Amon Sicily Scrimshaw

C: Jiath Worpel Weddle
R: Reeves Newcombe Nash

HF: Gunston Lewis Moore
FF: Ginnivan Chol Breust

Int: Ward Macdonald Mackenzie Maginness
Sub: Morrison / D'Ambrosio

I sat back and thought this is a bloody good team and surely it pushes into the 8 next year.

I then realised that with the constant shuffling to fit everyone in I had accidentally left Day out! o_O

And Wizard!

So much to be bullish about. Feel that Ward and Croc are on the cusp of consistently showing their quality, plus the hope of a fit CJ finding form, with Weddle on the opposite wing. A new look forward like that has capacity to score - just need to put mitigations in place for the risk of quick rebounds against our forwards. Lewis staying fit is important though not as vital as previous seasons. Can’t see this list stagnating in 2024.
