I agree on numbers of game played but Madigan was not the talent that Pickett is
I doubt he even knows what a deadlock is, let alone how to pick one.

Mad dog was such a pasty, scrawny winger, half back flanker.
Been in a good paddock.
Listed at 195cm and 92kgs. He most certainly wasn’t a scrawny flanker.

Bigger than Mew, who was still playing CHB at that stage.

Even bigger when he returned to Marcellin and played mainly out of the square (Plugger style). Only stupid back pockets would stand in his way when he was on a lead. 😉

Ha - this face looked familiar and turns out he’s a member at the golf club I used to have a membership at.

Had no clue he’d played for the hawks

Here's what he looked like at the Hawks.

Jackson Callow and Jack Saunders have signed on to continue at Norwood for season 2024

Boyd, Kennerley and Callow sign on for 2024

Harry Boyd, Jackson Callow, Jacob Kennerley, Jack Saunders and Declan Hamilton have re-committed to the club for the 2024 season.

Boyd was Runner Up in this year’s Best and Fairest count, and won the Michael Taylor Medal in 2022, along with the Jack Oatey Medal on Grand Final Day.

Boyd has been a dominant ruckman in the SANFL competition, among the top players in the League for hitouts and clearances in 2023.

He represented South Australia in the 2023 State game against Western Australia.

Kennerley was elevated to the co-captaincy position in 2023, playing 15 games before injury cut his season short.

He brought up the 50-game milestone in 2023.

Tall forward Callow returned to Norwood as a prized recruit for the 2023 season after spending 18 months on Hawthorn’s AFL list.

He battled with an ankle injury for most of last season, before returning to the League side in Round 15. He kicked nine goals in his final three matches, and was a dominant force in Norwood’s forward line.

Also returning to Norwood for the 2023 Season was Saunders. His return campaign was cut short after a neck injury in Round 4.

Hamilton will return in 2024 as one of Norwood’s most experienced SANFL players, with 101 matches under his belt.

He averaged 17 disposals in 2023, and kicked eight goals from his 12 matches before injury cut his season short.

The club is very excited by these re-signings.

Keep an eye on the Norwood Football Club website, with more player signings to come…

Matt Walker leaving Williamstown to head back to the O & M to play with Albury

Mathew Walker: The former Hawthorn-listed AFL player is back at Albury after 40 games in the VFL for multiple clubs over the past few years. Already a premiership player with the Tigers, in 2018, he will remain with Albury until 2026 after signing a three-year deal.

The bull Kyle Hartigan to play with Queenscliff

Kyle Hartigan joins Queenscliff for 2024 season

Queenscliff’s senior coach has revealed how the Coutas lured a former Hawthorn and Adelaide defender to the club for the 2024 BFNL season.

With mutual friends and a shared value and importance of a “family club”, new Queenscliff coach Heath Jamieson was well poised to snare the signature of former Adelaide and Hawthorn defender Kyle Hartigan.

The club announced on Thursday morning it had acquired the 32-year-old, 135-game defender ahead of the 2024 BFNL season.

Hartigan, who was delisted by the Hawks in 2022, is shifting into the world of player management as a career.

However, a move to Ocean Grove alerted Jamieson’s attention, with the multiple GFNL premiership coach looking to add some experience to a green Coutas outfit.

“We were aware he’d moved into the area and I’ve got a couple of mutual friends with Kyle,” Jamieson said, who coached a Bellarine flag in 2011 with Queenscliff.

“They mentioned that he was moving down to the area and he might be on the hunt for a local club.

“Once that was known I gave him a buzz, I was pretty impressed with the way he conducted himself.

“He was saying all the right things.”

However, Hartigan’s commitment, both on and off the field, is still to be ironed out.

“We’ve still got a few things we’ve got to work through, he may be looking at doing some coaching next year, he doesn’t know yet,” Jamieson said.

“If we could have him for 18 rounds, that’s fantastic, if it’s less than that, we’re happy with that as well.

“He’s obviously going to be above the level.”

He said Newcomb’s position in the Bellarine as a “family club” also appealed to Hartigan, a father of two.

“We pride ourselves on being a family club,” he said.

“He wanted a club where his kids could grow up and play at.

“We always recruit the person, football comes second.”

The club has also recently added some youth in the returning Max Scott, Jonas Seecamp (Newtown & Chilwell) and Lachie McKane (Lara).

However, Jamieson said the Coutas were still actively recruiting, targeting some more “seasoned players” who could help turn the club into a finals contender after finishing seventh in 2023.

“We’re still in the game with a couple of players we think can come in and have an impact straight away that are older, which is probably the age demographic that we need,” he said.

“We’ve probably got enough of the younger brigade now.

“We’ve got a good young group, Rory’s been able to get some games into our younger players,

“We just need to add a little bit of experience.

“We’re probably going to go really young or really old with our recruits.”

He's gonna be a regular at the Trident fish bar.

Best fish and chips in Victoria hands down.

Yeah nah, I take it you haven’t seen the 89 GF.
He was a young fella then no doubt, but he was a little exposed on the big stage.

Connor Downie training with North Melbourne.

Maybe the delisting gave him the spark he needs - he could certainly play, but it always seemed too much like hard work at times.

Maybe rookied by North?
He has been since last year

Looks like Emerson Jeka's going with Essendon VFL this year

EDIT: now with the EFC press release

I hope he makes their senior list one day, gets into a final and kicks the winning goal just so we can observe that it was only a Hawthorn man who could overcome *'s magnificent losing streak.

Would rather they just kept the losing streak going.
