Connor Rozzee , do yaselves a favour n check out the stats over 106 games

1 Miillion a season based on that ? WOW,just WOW

AFL's gone troppošŸ˜‚

i know someones gotta get the coin but geez goin by his stats its BB,beyond belief
No no he's elite ;) he's a generational talent ;) they've done the right thing in signing him on for 8 years ;).
More oppo teams should sign their b-listers elite talent on ridiculous coin bargain wages for all eternity sensible contract lengths.

In our defence should be the fact that he was at EFC at all.. the injury not bad enough to prevent a second club employing him. Chuck in the fact that he played with an edfl club

He was still playing footy over ten years after he left Richmond.

He was still playing for Strathmore in 2013, then Torquay Tigers in the Bellarine Footy League in 2014 and St. Albans in the Geelong Footy League in 2015.

Let's see if he helps his club to 3 premierships like Dusty and Big Sexy did.

A long history post RFC seems to diminish his claim Of debilitating pain he has had to live.

I have hurt my lower back. Very painful for a while.
I couldn't imagine running around on a football field.

Manage it with Mobic when required. I injured my meniscus too.

I remember with pregnancy there was a risk of permanent disability if the doctor got the epidurals injection wrong.

Anyone got a medical opinion on RFC doctor and the injection regime?

For a fringe player

Zantuck has endured 17 operations on his spine since retiring from the AFL in 2005, can no longer work and is battling permanent pain and depression.

Yet could play footy for another 10 years post RFC. Got employed by as a coach at Hailebury.

A lot of surgery going on in dodgy clinics around the place. Dennis Allen's epidurals

If the epidurals were administered by Richmond they would have been administered by a qualified doctor. If botched surely the doctor is liable?

Correct. Don't know the strategy for zantuck suing RFC.

It seems a no brainer that continuing to play football at any level, diminishes his claim against RFC.
When it eventually happens
How does a damages trial work? Guaranteed to be an appeal.. either way.

I remember the case of New years Day, someone got paraplegic jumped in the ocean between the flags.
The initial ruling was $4 million, then appealed then counter appealed.

Medical negligence?

Zantuck still alive, coach now & EDFL players were on decent coin. $50k/season.

When you sue, you sue everyone I guess. The court could find it was the AFL/RFC culture/system as much or more than the doctor(s) management decisions.
The doctor may be indemnified by the clubā€™s insurance in any case. Depends on their arrangement.

Not saying either of these are true for this case.

I suppose out of the doctors insurance company, the AFL and Richmond FC the club would have the least dollars to mount a legal defence. Still can't see him winning unless the club employed someone unqualified to administer the epidurals.
the bloke is a gold digger

he shouldve gone home if he didnt want to play footy

he willingly ran out there time and time again for years after rfc too

RFC doctors left zantuck life crippled.

Define "crippled " I guess.

And also statute of limitations. Iā€™m not commenting on whether he has a case or not but it is a bit perplexing that a magistrate has determined the suit can continue given the length of time that has elapsed

We must have been in court contesting the decision.
Supreme Court. again 18 months ago. Justice moving slowly

RFC and it's doctors left zantuck life crippled.

"Crippled" back in town. Don't want to diss EDFL too much . Mon and Balta came through there.
GLF now that's a cripple footy league

It certainly does, but quite possibly the strongest legal defence is that after your first operation you get scarring in 100% of cases and that in and of itself can be enough to cause life long pain and disability (even if the surgery is regarded a 100% success in correcting the original issue), as anyone who has signed any kind of waiver for any kind of spinal surgery can attest.

If he's had over a dozen surgeries then it's hard to think how it would be possible for him to NOT have significant pain/issues from all the scar tissue alone, let alone whatever else is/was wrong.

Some surgeons are total cowboys...they'll just keep operating if someone will keep paying...it's possible it might help this time around...:sadv1:

Manager might have been smart enough to write into his contract that his deals goes up the saem % that the salary cap increases...

Correct ā€¦ I think all the ā€˜gunsā€™ insist on their salary going up in line with increase in the cap. Ballpark heā€™s got 9-years left earning probably around $9m ā€¦.. his manager needs a statue.

Dusty still the highest average contract in history 7 years after he signed it, and by a distance, even though the cap has increased 20+% since 2017. No other player may get a bigger average contract until the cap has gone up another 10%+.

You would need a contract near $1.5m pa now to be on the equivalent portion of the cap and people are having kittens about a player being on a mill. You would need to be offered about $1.8-1.9m in today's cap to match Dusty's biggest offer from North.

But he isn't in the best 10 players this century lol. Like teams routinely offer deals to the latest "gun" that won't be matched 10-15 years later.
