Probably not . There are 30 plus blokes that are training well .ant555 As you seem to have gone to a few training sessions now do you think you could pick a best 22 based solely on what you've seen, not who you want or think will be in the 22 but the best 22(23) trainers?
Probably not . There are 30 plus blokes that are training well .
Ok fair, another question, is the standard better than what you've seen in the past? No so much game plan and structure but intensity and professionalism?Probably not . There are 30 plus blokes that are training well .
They look a lot leaner and in good shape as a group and there is more blokes that seem to be driving the standards. Not much slacking off happening.Ok fair, another question, is the standard better than what you've seen in the past? No so much game plan and structure but intensity and professionalism?
Would say the whole group are working well rather than say x amount of players are training the house down.Would you say they're training the house down though?

Oddly enough I was approached by the HS in 2009 in regards to doing some under 18 stuff . At the time I was doing a few match reports for the VFL record . Unfortunately had to turn it down for a few reasons. Think Cal ended up getting that gig a few years later. I would have been no good anyway as my dyslexia gives me too many issues as far as creating anything more than a few basic paragraphs. You'd never get a job as an AFL journo, the only valid measure of pre-season training excellence is whether you are training the house down or not.
Worse still, Blind Freddy could outwork us down the lineWe were 15th last year
17th in 2022
9th in 2021
15th in 2020
We suck at marking down the line. Blind Freddy could tell you that.
Tomorrow is when the journos switch their attention from the tennis to footy, fluff pieces incoming! You'd never get a job as an AFL journo, the only valid measure of pre-season training excellence is whether you are training the house down or not.
I was responding about the quality of Baldwin's kicking and his ability to rebound by foot, but since you're keen on Laverde staying in, I thought I'd look at their comoarative defensive ability - a disingenuous comparison given the unequal sample size, but here it is;Laverde pants's him for defending ability and versatility
I think this year most of the time it wont be
Lav vs Baldwin
But Z.Reid vs Baldwin
You absolutely can not have Mckay, Reid, Baldwin, Ridley, Redman, Mcgrath, Martin a sthe back 7 and expect positive results over an extended period of time
Even a s**t side like the hawks round 1 Breust, Moore, Watson, CMac, Ginnivan would love that back 7
Hope the midfield/fwd line has sorted out their s**t (defensive willingness/mindset, Personal, Footy Smarts ect) further afield

Tackles aside, not much difference.
Laverde is stronger at the ground contest and marking, but it's not a great difference when you consider sample size. Baldwin's kicking accuracy though, which I was commenting on, is better.
The thing is, we know Laverde's ceiling, he's turning 28 and we're not challengers. So we can keep playing a guy like Laverde and we'll probably go okay, or we can find out more about the 21 year old Baldwin, whose marking ability has been strongly and positively described by a lot of track watchers this summer.
I reckon the jury's out on the back 7 you've named there, but looking at one defensive line and one forwardline dismisses the defensive game that should be happening further up the ground anyway.
So, back to it, I want to find out about Kaine Baldwin.
Hey, I did say it was a disingenuous comparison. Two points.
No need to have a conversation with someone who is currently suspended
Are you really comparing 4 games to 19 games ?
That’s a couple of times now I’ve heard Hind being used forward. Interesting stuff.Training report from 6_monfries_and_coke on blitz from match sim this morning:
So i left at around 11.15. they had about 25-30 mins full ground match Sim before then. As previously mentioned with the black team forwards and red team backs. Laverde played on caddy and I think was instructed to try and rough him up a little by little shoulders in the back ,pushing and shoving him. Hayes had Jones and Baldwin had Langford.( 2mp didn’t play in the full ground match Sim) him and draper went over to the 2nd ground and did lead outs from the square) no injury issues. He played in the half ground match Sims and did all the drills.
I must say that j.davey and lual looked real impressive running off the half back line especially Jayden. His kicking was sublime. As one fellow watcher said. He is our unwrapped Christmas present.
At the other end of the ground.
The red starting forward 6 were. Vito, weed,Alwyn, guelfi, Caldwell, hind.
The black back 6.
McKay,reid, Redman, McGrath, Martin,Cox.
Midfield including wings.
Red.: Bryan,Hobbs,stringer, duursma,Roberts,setterfield
Black: Goldy, Merrett, parish,Durham, tsatas, Kelly ( last 2 were the wingers).
Fairly scrappy game but when they got it together the ball movement looked really good infact electric.
The standouts for both teams were.
Black.
Durham,Perkins,Redman,Cox and Jones, caddy, Langford worked really well together.
Red. Stringer( was running all over the ground like he was given a licensed) looks fit and certainly his running style has changed.
Duursma,j.davey, Hobbs,and hind.
Ridley and Shiel did plenty of running on the 2nd ground so I don’t think there is any major issues there.
Guessing Gresham and Perkins are black team forwards and Heppell is red team defender?Training report from 6_monfries_and_coke on blitz from match sim this morning:

Jon Pierik in the Age said Stringer was doing running drills with Draper and didnt take part in the match simTraining report from 6_monfries_and_coke on blitz from match sim this morning:

Explains him running all over the ground I guessJon Pierik in the Age said Stringer was doing running drills with Draper and didnt take part in the match sim
Hence why he looked leanerJon Pierik in the Age said Stringer was doing running drills with Draper and didnt take part in the match sim
maybe they'll swap them around mid game and confuse the shit out of the opponents with the twin thingInteresting that they’re using j Davey through half back and alwyn as the forward. I’d thought it would be the other way round, considering Jaydens goal sense.
If they swap jumpers this might be a viable optionmaybe they'll swap them around mid game and confuse the s**t out of the opponents with the twin thing
