Im not saying they didnt know about him, but im saying they wouldnt all of had a 2nd round grade on him.
His senior bowl would of pushed him up into top 5 WR for more teams. But he could of ended up there when teams spend more time on his tape over the next few weeks anyway.

Williams has so many red flags for me that i feel he will be a bust no matter where he ends up. Especially if he is starting week 1

I am the opposite I think he is the clearly going to be best qb in this class followed by maye. The one for me who is going to bust in daniels too small, only throws a handful of routes in college and basically one read qb at this point.

The problems i saw with Williams in his Heisman year just got worse last year. its either the worst coaching in college by Lincoln Riley or its on Williams for trying to make every play a highlight play.

He is a bigger but less athletic and more reckless Justin Fields.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports QB Caleb Williams won’t throw at the NFL Scouting Combine.
It’s not uncommon for quarterbacks to skip the throwing portion of the combine, and wait until their school’s pro day to show their stuff. This is apparently what Williams plans to do. The consensus No. 1 overall pick is still expected to report to the combine, meet with teams, and will presumably do other workouts. USC’s pro day is scheduled to take place on March 20th.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jayden Daniels will not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Daniels joins Caleb Williams on the short list of quarterback prospects who aren’t expected to throw at this week’s combine. Like Williams, Daniels will save the throwing portion of his workout for LSU’s pro day, which is scheduled for March 27th. Daniels is fresh off a Heisman campaign in which he threw for 3811-40-4, and added another 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. Arguably the best dual-threat quarterback in the class, Daniels will hopefully participate in the other workouts and turn in a solid 40-yard dash at the combine this week.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports Marvin Harrison Jr. won’t workout at the NFL Scouting Combine and is “not at a combine training facility at all.”
We don’t yet know if Harrison will attend the combine to meet with teams, but it sounds like he won’t be there for any portion of the week. According to Breer, Harrison is staying at Ohio State to “build towards his rookie season,” which is something he can afford to do after putting together an impressive college resumé. After riding the bench for much of his freshman season, Harrison put together back-to-back 1,200 yard seasons in 2022 and 2023 and found the end zone 14 times both years. An explosive receiver who is expected to measure well north of six feet tall, Harrison is all but locked in as the top receiver of the 2024 class.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports WR Malik Nabers will attend the NFL Scouting Combine for interviews but won’t test until LSU’s pro day.
Nabers joins Marvin Harrison Jr. as the second high-profile wide receiver who will not work out at the combine. According to Rapoport, Nabers will report to the combine and interview with teams, but will run through tests on March 27th during LSU’s pro day. Nabers is widely considered to be the No. 2 receiver of the class and should hear his name called in the top 10 of April’s draft.

Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter said the team doesn’t “plan to close any quarterback doors at [the] NFL scouting combine.”
It sounds like the Falcons are willing to do anything they deem necessary to secure a top rookie in this year’s draft if that’s the route they ultimately decide to take. Currently holding the No. 8 overall pick, the Falcons could have enough draft capital to trade into the top three if that’s what’s required to secure their guy. Former third-round pick Desmond Ridder has played in 19 career games since being drafted by the Falcons in 2022, throwing for 3544-14-12 while adding another 257 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. At this stage in his career, Ridder looks more like a serviceable backup than a quarterback who is going to change the trajectory of an. With a chance to potentially draft a franchise quarterback in this April’s draft, the Falcons are smartly keeping the door open for whoever that may be.

Why not change the combine and have players who go must do all the drills.

Im sure there are day 3 guys who would love to have an invite and would of done all the drills. teams can still do interviews at pro days and private interviews later

Yeah it's a cop out how some choose not to do sprints or some not throw etc.

Cam understand those needing time to heal from a recent injury, but leaving much to their pro days is scaredy pants

I understand it, if you're happy with your draft stock and don't think it will get any better than it is now what is there to gain? You can only hurt your stock/cost yourself money

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said he’s been told by “multiple sources” that “if the situation presents itself correctly,” the Giants would be open to drafting a QB in the first round.
As Raanan points out, the Giants have the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, along with two second-round picks. In addition to the draft capital, there are also questions over whether or not the team wants to move forward with Jones’ given his recent injury history (neck/torn ACL). Jones signed a four-year, $160 million deal last offseason, which the Giants almost instantly regretted after a 40-0 Week 1 loss to the Cowboys in which Jones threw for 104 yards and one touchdown. It was only one game, but the struggles looked eerily familiar. Jones later suffered a neck injury that sidelined him for a few weeks and then a torn ACL, which kept him out for the remainder of the year. Already holding a high pick in the draft, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Giants take a shot on a top quarterback come April, as Jones has struggled to look like a franchise quarterback for much of his career.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports rookie RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) “should be cleared by training camp.”
Brooks suffered a torn ACL in mid-November and underwent surgery soon after. Considered by some to be the top running back in this year’s class, Brooks will not work out at the NFL Scouting Combine but is “healing well and as expected,” according to Rapoport, and projects to be cleared by training camp according to Dr. Dan Cooper. Before going down, Brooks rushed 187 times for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games with the Longhorns last season and added another 25-286-1 through the air. His versatile skillset should make him a valuable rookie pick for the upcoming fantasy season.

Fair point, but it's still scaredy pants because they will throw or sprint at their pro days

Yes, well all know the clock on pro day running events is bogus and heavily favours the player. I kind of get it from a QBs perspective, they want to throw with guys they have a rapport with, not to be made to look bad by guys who they have never thrown a ball to before.

I am with you on this one.

I much prefer players that will back themselves, players that do otherwise comes across as limp dicks.

It's more challenging to throw or catch with players that you not as familiar with, and as a recruiter I would think more highly of a kid who wants a challenge, than a kid who plays it safe.

Its not as if the recruiters have NFI that its easier to perform better in your comfort zone, but the sweet peas need to get switched on pretty quick smart, because they wont be playing in their comfort zones when they play up at far more intense tempo and if they shy away from that, then they wont have a long tenure in the NFL.

But there again I am old school, but give me a less talented kid with a set of balls to accept a challenge, over a more credentialed kid that prefers easy street.
