This should be a win as the more experienced side. Also generally match up well vs Hawthorn.

But the Essendon of last week could show up and Hawthorn win. I'm hoping more of last year's result but I doubt they'd want us to be happy two round 1 games in a row so I'll settle for any win.

if this isn't a game for wright to clunk 5 or 6 solid contested marks and bag a few goals.
Jones and perkins also.
This backline is vfl std outside sicily.
2MP hasn’t done a thing since obliterating c*rlton. Has not got near it.

I’m not taking a heap out of that Cats game. Yes, we looked pretty good in the first 3 quarters but I reckon that’s because they were played at Essendon training intensity. We always look good when it’s easy.

As soon as the cats went up a gear we were screwed.

The Ridley excuse / reason is pretty BS. Very handy player but any half decent team can lose any player and find a way to hang in the contest, even if they aren’t quite as effective.

We also rested Wright and Langford.
Not sure the last quarter is the quarter you should be looking at for a yard stick.

Someone said Redman spent the last quarter on the bench, so that's 2 good defenders who weren't playing the last quarter.

Lots of magnet swapping happened in the last quarter.

Wright went off at half and ran laps.
Langford and Redman sat the entire last quarter.
Merrett shifted to half back from the middle to allow Tsatas on all time.
Bryan rucked and Goldstein played as Full Forward.

It will rely on our mids running theirs ragged though, given the size of them; Newcombe and Worpel are bigger boys I think. Enter Goldy with silver service. Parish looks like he'll be in peak form from R1. We might be in for a bit of a treat. A bit of Parish Delight!

Just a win for me. We win and they become our round one bunnies after doing that 2 years running. Then we live in their brains and hearts like a thorn, poisoning them with hatred and making existence uncomfortable for a full 12 months. That's what I want. I hate that piss wearing mob.

We also had 15 less rotations. Would be a major reason as to why they ran over the top from midway through the last. 1709514638378.png

I think its

Cox - Mckay - Mcgrath
Redman - Reid - Martin (Lav)

Goldy - Durham - Parish (Setterfield)
Duursma - Parish - Tsatas (Perkins)

Caldwell - H.Jones - Gresham
Stringer - 2MP - Langford (Menzie/Guelfi)

Sub: Hobbs or Menzie/Guelf

I personally if fit would be picking both Shiel and Hobbs over Perkins and Tsatas and play Durham on a wing (I dont think that onball position he has showed enough - i know hes there for his defensive/hard edge side and could do some run with tags)

Wont surprise me to see him go to Newcombe round 1

You just know that the Bombers will rag-doll this game to 3 qtr time without putting on a large score, then get run over the top in the last 10 minutes.
That's my prediction for all games this year the we're expected to win. We will, however, have a couple of unexpected barnstorming wins over teams that we shouldn't trouble.
Plus ca change, plus le meme Bombers....
