Its the other way around actually. That champs game was from sunday. He's playing champs as an over-ager given he missed out last season due to injury.
Great we haven't even drafted him yet and he's already been Melbourned

Bit like Curnow and Darling getting into a bit of mischief before being drafted I'm choosing to believe that we asked Howes to tank in the state games to help him fall to our pick.

"Give us your best Ben Brown impersonation"

Saad El-Hawli firming as a choice for the Dees if he's still available according to twitter footy journo types.

Any word on him noobermensch?
I'm not noob but from what I can tell he is a 184cms speedy small forward

23 year old medium midfielder with pace. Can go forward and wing as well.

Does fit the bill for us I reckon.
No disrespect, but we do need a KPP. Don't like the idea of using our only pick on a small-medium mid. If we had 2 or 3 picks, sure I'm all in on SEH.

I havent had any inside info, just reading the same stuff as everyone else. I've seen El-Hawli's name being mentioned for a few teams so I imagine he'll probably be taken. I'll try and get to all the guys I dont have footage on over the next few days.

What a name, love him already.
Make him captain!!!

I agree, bit it's not worth the pick if we think the talls won't make it long term. El-Hawli has put up some nice numbers in the VFL this season (including 33 and 2 against Sydney's reserved on the weekend) and sounds like a versatile kid with speed, both of which we could use.

Look, I hope you're right and SEH make me eat my words, I am just not comfortable not picking a tall with our lone pick.

I also hope Tim Lamb and Jason Taylor surprise us.

Surely we can't just keep adding NQR key forwards to the list until one of them succeeds. If we take Howes we're going to have a Casey forward line of him, Brown, Fullerton, Schache, Jefferson and Turner if we want to develop him there. I know nothing about any of these players, but a 23 y.o. midfielder who can rotate through the forward line and defence is both more what we need and more likely to actually play for us in the short term than a project KPP.

I mean really we just need Schache and Brown off the list. Turner has only been tried as a forward this year but I expect he'll go back to defense at some stage. Fullerton is more Ruck depth.

But yes El-Hawli sounds like a more promising prospect to actually contribute this year.

I get the feeling those positions might not be 100% accurate.
Just where they get named on the teamsheets – Jefferson for instance has been named at half-back or the back pocket more times than he's been named in the forward line this year. McAdam was listed at CHB for all three of his games too.
