That's not really news though. Collingwood, Carlton the same. 16 for Geelong and Richmond.

It's terrible that they have to travel for Gather Round.
How Could it be anything different?

Just on the old 22 round system
11 home games

11 away games, with the other 17 clubs made up of 9 that are Vic-based and 8 that are interstate based

So those 11 away games could only realistically be split up 6 Vic/5 interstate or 5 Vic/6 interstate

So impossible for it to be anything other than 16 or 17 Victorian games for the non-bankrupt-and-selling-off-home-games Victorian clubs

Fair point, guess it's just weird that they don't travel again this season (after a normal looking start to the year) I thought the AFL must be tired of them being out of finals & decided to intervene!

The AFL should have made it a condition on the pissant Victorian clubs that sell their home games to only play other Victorian clubs - not put the burden of extra travel on the non-Vic clubs (that get stuff all MCG /Marvel games as it is)

Just another VFL bias.

The issue tho is Hawthorn and Roos sell games into Tasmania and it is mainly non-Vic sides that play them - Saints exc.

Collingwood, Essendon and WB are the only three not to play at Bellerive. Collingwood and Melbourne are the only two never to play in Launceston.

There's a common theme there...

Again, how could it be any different?

Why would they move a "Showdown" interstate?

And what difference does it make for us? Still an interstate trip either way

Because the Vic teams could play there but the Hawks aren’t going to give up a home game at the G against Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond etc for example.

It all changes again in 2028 when the Tasmania team comes in - no more Tasmania games playing either Hawks or North and Tasmania can’t just play non-Vic sides in Hobart.

That Philosophy sounds just like ours...why have we not had the same success those clubs have???

Although I think Geelong are lying..they did take Stengle after all and he failed our good guy test
If it's a choice, they'd go for the one from a good family.
If it's choosing between Stengle and noone, they'll go Stengle.
