This must infuriate Freo fans. They have a heap of talent and look so dangerous when they move it yet Longmuir has long played a slow, defensive and dour game plan.

They should be in the top 4, and would've beaten Carlton and Port if they had a better game style.

The ghost of Gerard Neesham lingers.

It seems a waste with Melbourne that a team with elite players like Petracca, Oliver and Gawn plus a host of good role players are only going to win one flag. I'd take one flag over none but I think they were primed for more than that.

I can see them slipping down like Richmond in the next few years.

The way they played that year and during the GF you thought they’d dominate for years

Honestly with how bad Petty has been this year Melbourne should be offering us a draft pick just to take him off their hands.
I wonder if the Lisfranc injury is more of a hindrance than expected. He's been woeful pretty much all season, and Jones (who had the same injury, near enough on the same day) hasn't been great this season either.

Safe to say the Melbourne board are over Goodwin. What a complete waste the last two seasons have been and their form this year has been mediocre to below par with today being the low point.

Will be an interesting watch for the remainder of the year. If they collapse from here and miss finals, he should be in trouble.

And on another note, they aren’t happy with McAdam either!

So you're saying when Melbourne sack Goodwin and we sack Nicks, Riccutio will herald our savour, mate and former team mate Simon Goodwin as the new coach for the Crows?
Scary thing is I can just imagine from a PR point of view a good portion of the fans would love it and it could therefore easily happen.

He may have run his race at Melbourne… but not to say he can’t coach.

The rumoured off-field business is the red flag of course plus his adherence to discipline, defence etc. But with a better forward line and more capable attacking players, he may well be different.

A premiership winning coach with three consecutive top four finishes… compared to what you have now, it’s a no brainer ☺️

My main issue with Goodwin is that he is too much of a Neil Craig acolyte and that he would put too much emphasis on defence and make us extremely dour.

Absolutely, he does have an emphasis on defence. I was more thinking that with a better forward line (Thilthorpe, Fog, Rachele, Rankine, Welsh? to start with) he may broaden his attacking horizons so to speak 😆

One thing, you will be a well drilled, disciplined team in comparison to what is there now.

Not the worst option and if the aim is getting an experienced coach…
