Without going back over previous posts & certainly not an advocate for sacking the coach, but, who would be the best option for WC's next coach? Hypothetically for 2025? Current assistants, current coach out of contract?

Compared with hawthorn we havent even started our rebuild. They have been rebuilding longer than us, there younger players have more experience together, of course they are a little more consistent than us. That's not because of some Mitchell genius or Simpson hoplessness, it just comes with being six years into a rebuild.
Simmo had more than enough senior talent at his disposal to easily account for North last week. Elliot Yeo, Jeremy McGovern, Jake Waterman, Tom Barrass, Jack Darling, Liam Ryan, Andrew Gaff, Jamie Cripps, Dom Sheed, Liam Duggan, Jack Petruccelle and Tom Cole is a solid experienced team that dished up two friggen goals to three quarter time in front of a home crowd against a VFL basketcase. Even worse was to surge into the lead then lose despite all the momentum in front of a big home crowd. If that doesn't cry "not playing for the coach" then nothing does. The club keeps talking about "unacceptable" then just carries on accepting it.
Sure, what you say is close to true but let's not forget that Hawthorn are a couple of years ahead of us in their rebuild.Read my post where I said now that they have found the place that they can play well.
Not enough talent in the mid field and not enough accuracy in front of goals. Or though the midfield when they did give forwards a look the shot's were from fairly wide. Just a straight swap for Beveridge I reckon. Both contracted to 2025 and neither likely to last beyond that. Do a deal with the AFL and no-one pays any soft cap penalty. We get an interesting season of selection's that you can be sure have nothing to do with credits [or maybe anything else] and Bulldogs players finally get the motherly love they desperately crave. I predict if the respective boards have the balls to do this the two Wests face off in the big dance next October.
In fairness to Darling, two of those were bloody tight angles. 2.2 would have been a fair effort for him last weekend. As Jake Waterman kindly volunteered during he week, it was 100% the forwards fault for not converting.
Goals converted by Jake Waterman: 3
Final scores for Jack Darling and James Cripps: 1 goal 3 a piece.
Absolute king.

There were certainly some shots I'd expect to be able to convertYou've convinced me. Darling gets a pass, I guess that means loss is on Cripps then? Oh boy.
Andddd Simpson doesn't fall in that category?I don't think it is true to say Hawthorn have been rebuilding for 6 years or 8 years or whatever. The rebuild only really started cooking with gas when Mitchell took over. Up until that point Clarkson was busy trying to execute a failed plan of doing a quick and dirty fake rebuild of trading in middle aged players from other clubs. Clarkson deserves a fair bit of blame for wasted time and other resources at that club in his last 5 years there.
How he survived the Sydney and Hawthorne debarkle last year is beyond me
I dont think so. A couple of free agents just to have a few names in the 24-28 year old bracket isnt just topping up to half ass a rebuild.Andddd Simpson doesn't fall in that category?
They were still rebuilding for a lot longer than us. The Hawks really started drafting in 2019 with Will Day. Most of their kids are at least 3 years in, their best mids are Day in his 5th year, Newcombe who is the same age as Day, and a couple of value picks in Worpel and Nash. Theyve drafted a heap of kids, including a bunch of mids in the first round since then who arent looking like theyll be stars at this stage.I don't think it is true to say Hawthorn have been rebuilding for 6 years or 8 years or whatever. They probably wasted some time, but removing Omeara and Mitchell when they did only really worked as well as it did because they had Day/Newcombe/Worpel all in their early 20s(equivalent to 4th year players). Our mids are teenagers still.
I guess you could look at it as when Chesser is in his 5th year, we will be at roughly the same spot as the hawks now(2 more years). I think we can beat that tbh
