Match report from the AFL site on our sim against the SUNS:

New faces: Eleanor Hartill (trade), Evie Long (draft), Shanae Davison (trade), Rania Crozier (draft), Indiana Williams (draft), Jacinta Baldwick (draft)

Notable omissions: Breanna Koenen, Shannon Campbell, Dee Heslop, Jade Pregelj, Taylor Smith

What we learnt: Kate Lutkins is raring to go for her return from pregnancy, reoccupying her place in the backline, while Jade Ellenger played almost exclusively at half-back, offering some nice rebounding dash. Poppy Boltz looks set for some midfield minutes this year, having gone head-to-head with Charlie Rowbottom at the contest for much of the game, and Belle Dawes is ready to have a seriously strong season on the ball. Recruit Eleanor Hartill offered Tahlia Hickie some great support in the ruck, while also providing another tall target in attack, and Shanae Davison has found a home on the half-back line.

Richmond looking scary this 1/4. Defence has massively improved for them this off-season

Rusty. Lions moved a lot of players around and many interchanges which would have made it hard to build cohesion but ultimately a trial game. Some of the newbies showed a bit.

Richmond wanted to win that one badly. Didn’t really do a lot of trial game interchanging.

Took some control when it mattered.

Interested to see how our lineup changes this year.

I thought our draftees showed a lot of promise

Didn't get to see much of the game. Hopefully the stream will be made avilable. Didn't seem the highest quality game, but would be good to catchup on the newbies.

Richmond looked up for that. They were cleaner with the ball and we couldn't match up on Brennan.

Hodder would have had a night out up forward because there were plenty of chances but as good an opportunity as any to run her for a full game in the midfield.

Ellinger's mark at centre half back in the last minute or so was the most important play of the game.

This is a team that just finds a way to win.

Scrappy game, lot of skill errors. Richmond were all over us in the second, but we clawed it back and our fitness probably got them by the end.

Hartill was impressive, dropped into space and took some good marks in the backline.

Peters was involved in play and had some nice moments.

Crozier only got a run late but did a couple of really eye-catching things, very athletic.

They def should use Ellinger in the middle sometimes, did well and a couple of her runs through traffic were very impressive.

Young kid Lutkins went okay too, good to have a cool head back there.

We often struggle to match up on Brennan even when full strength, and she loves to let us know about it too.

Crozier could be that type of player who just improves with every opportunity once she gets up to the speed of the game.

Peters looked like she was adjusting to the speed and intensity but that will come. She did a couple of really quality things. Hickie seemed more aggressive in the ruck.

We clamped down well on Conti I thought. Brennan just needed to be pushed around more so she had to work much harder.

There were a hell of a lot of times when Richmond handballed in hope and it came off or they got a good bounce. They had a lot go their way which flattered them a little after the second quarter. The commentators talked like they were the best team ever when really, both teams were just OK. We were trying a mix of options far more than they were.

Good to have some taller bodies coming in as well this season. We have traditionally been a little undersized.

Any news on this one? Do we still have a list spot available?
Haven't done the maths, but as far as I know we have one spot available still. Some of the QAFLW teams are about the start finals, so they may be waiting that out.
