Hearing this news just further exacerbates the issue of losing Tay Adam’s and not having a clear replacement for him (a hard on baller). Especially now that De Goey and Mitchell are out for the season, who can replace any of them? It’s clear that our midfield doesn’t quite bat deep. Perhaps McRae may have to take on a different strategy and play a bit taller with placing both Reef and Krueger in the team and just try to win contested marks…i like our pressure game but just feel our clearances and tackles are not the same without these three.

Didnt he have foot issues? .. foot's a long way from the Appendix , no private health insutance? :p :D

His foot rehab was interrupted by appendix surgery. Setback a week or so then foot flared up again. Plantar fasciitis is not chronic, it’s just annoying recovery time. He will be 100% 2025. They have just made the smart decision to review the surgery and do the right thing. How many times have we said why didn’t they fix it at the end of the year.

He had his appendix out in the past few days.

"Mitchell has had his appendix removed in recent days, months after being hospitalised in early May with appendicitis that was treated with antibiotics at the time.

Mitchell hasn't played since being substituted out of Anzac Day with the foot injury that has ruined his second season at the AIA Centre.

The 31-year-old managed a plantar fascia issue in his left foot across the first seven rounds before Collingwood opted for rest to help improve the situation.

Mitchell then underwent surgery in early June to help him regain full function in his foot and was initially hoping to be available by round 19, but after dealing with further foot soreness last month the high performance staff had to reduce his workload."

De Goey's reaction on the bench after his hamstring looked like relief more than anything.
Sounds like the reports were true and he was playing through a lot of pain and was happy in the knowledge he knew this was season over and he could get a full proper recovery.

This season is far too long... so many teams playing with injuries out there and people are wondering why there is such large fluctuations in performances.

and no the answer is not to manage the players and play them only 20 games a season.. fans want to see their superstars every round..... whos going to tell QLD pie fans that N.Daicos is being rested the week they come to town?

AFL is not the NBA...they run up to 20km a game and need rest.

Might be hang the boots up time for Mitch

If he decides his body isn’t up to it, then sure.

But he’s contracted for another year, and he plays an important role that we’ve really struggled to replace so far.
