Just a FYI. Those who have cancelled memberships by emailing membership to cancel autorenewal make sure you check it is has been done. I received a SMS from the club telling me they were taking the first payment out on October 10th. I just rang the club and was told they "forgot" to action it; even after I had received email confirmation on the 12th that my 3 memberships had been cancelled. It appears they will try and get memberships in any way they can.
 
I haven't been a member since 2022, but I did keep the 'Pledge Per Win' thing going. That seems to be on auto renewal too unless you contact the club to stop it. My credit card just happened to expire at the end of September, so if "Kenny" is still in situ next season I shouldn't need to do a thing.

Just a PSA if you're looking not to renew your membership. Even if you didn't opt in for auto-renewal, you'll still be automatically signed up for it and will need to contact the membership department directly to be taken off as there's no way to do this yourself through the membership portal (see below).

Pretty shady business practice if you ask me.

Yep. That's what I found. Tried calling today because I forgot it was a public holiday over in SA.

Yeah, the notice I posted above isn't displayed or made clear in any way when you purchase a membership.

I had to go trawling through the bowels of the dark web to find it, because for the life of me I couldn't remember signing up for auto-renewal in any shape or form.
 
Whether he deserved it at the time or not is a moot point now. Finishing 2nd and making a prelim is a decent season by any measure. I also feel he was dreadfully unlucky losing both Farrell and Houston (ie. most teams have injuries, but when they're in the same position, it makes things very difficult)

It's disgraceful.

If people can afford it, it's almost worth letting them take the first payment, then complaining to the club and potentially the ACCC. Tie them up with complaints if they're going to do this bullshit.

I always had a lot of respect for the membership dept staff, but forcing memberships ,even free ones, on people who didn't ask for them and don't want them is shameful.
 
This is pretty underhanded of them IMHO. Just checked my renewal email (which I'd ignored) and it says:

"Your Digital Membership is now ready to renew for 2025. Please note there has been a price increase from 2024 but you will continue to save on Kayo with a Digital Membership.

Please click to view your 2025 Digital Membership renewal."

It doesn't say anything about it being renewed automatically, so if that's what they do I shall be miffed, and yes it would be a pretty shady business practice.

(BTW, the "price increase" mentioned is a piddling 40%. As discussed earlier in this thread, i'm prepared to accept that this isn't the Club's fault)

I was sure I did not tick 'autorenew' on this year's membership but they have told me they will be debiting my credit card this week anyway.
Yep, they did same to me. They seem to reset to auto renew every year despite last years wishes. Definitely have to ring to get it actioned.
