Yes I much prefer this to the red we play in away now. My understanding is that the traditional Fitzroy colours were never red, they were maroon, and the only reason they ever changed to red were for the same reason the West Indies played in pink and New Zealand wore beige: for crappy 70s and early 80s television.

But those with more life experience than I will be able to confirm or deny the above 🙃
Correct, brighter colours brought in for colour tv. I think we even changed our shorts to yellow for one season. That traditional maroon kit was the best in the league and would love the white lion idea for our away Fitzroy themed jumper.

My Roar Deal merch arrived today. Seemed like a good idea to get the jumper when I ordered in winter... Would have to put the aircon on full blast to wear at the moment!
I ordered the Logan Morris red cap. While entertaining, the colour is a bit ordinary - more pink than red…

It's been an ongoing thing for a while that the colour doesn't really look gold. It was incredibly noticeable on Collingwoods this year as well, maybe a little less so because our kit includes the yellow gold.
Looks more of a true gold than the gold on our guernsey imo.

When I see it in person, I may change my opinion.

Having a retro bears Guernsey as a clash kit is genius. It takes away the point of those gimmick rounds where only half the league actually uses retro jerseys and it means we can wear it more often. It's genuinely a cool idea that pays homage to our history and it's different enough that more people will buy it. I would also love for the club to run out to "dare to be the bear" when they're wearing it. That would be so extra lol.
