Sorry if this has been posted somewhere before, was going to take the young fella down to training before school holidays are over.

When do they normally train?

Some notes from today's match simulation:
4 x 10 minute quarters
Mixed midfields for both teams in all quarters.
It appeared to be close to a full strength backline against close to a full strength forward line in the first half, before becoming more a best forward line and best backline together.
Reeves has definitely shocked this pre-season. He worked forward on Meek, took a mark and kicked the goal. He also worked back into defence and took an intercepting mark. One play he juggled a mark and batted it forward to CJ, who kicked it into forward 50. His demise is greatly exaggerated. He and Meek are having a heck of a battle for top ruckman.
Watson is a wonder - he was absolutely everywhere during the match simulation and as we have seen, took a massive mark.
Croc was on a wing before moving back to half forward.
Gunners kicking is just so smooth - he is over any issue he had.
Ramsden had a good day - a lovely spoil on Scrimshaw marking, kicked to Chol who hit Dimma for an easy goal.
CJ agains composed from the back with great pace.
Jars is going to likely play the small defender role - broke lines with pace.
Massimo and Harry were the wings that stood out - both just know how to play that role and what to do.
Weddle played backline but had a license to roam.
Mackenzie and Ward both did some really nice things in the midfield.
Day and Newcombe both had spells forward - both will be dangerous in that space.
Barrass' defensive craft is a thing of beauty.
Battle on a managed work load, Sicily and Punky watched on.
Frost hopefully back into full integration next week.

Probably the same supporters frothing over clips from their own clubs training sessions of young players taking a few bounces on an empty wing or evading VFL players.
Flashback to that Essendon account losing their mind over Alwyn Davey taking a bounce in the pre-season 2 years ago.

Watched match sim

Will post a tad more later potentially

Meek is that far superior to Reeves, reeves still doesn't do much more than tap, and he aint perfect at that
Looks like Newmo disagrees somewhat with your Reeves take!

Different opinions are good, would be so dam boring if everyone had the same opinion.

Will be good to watch the Two rucks battle it out. Meek seems more capable when helping out in the forward line.

I’d like to know more about Williams, Jaith, Burgoyne and Hodges game time.

Cooper looks to be in better physical shape than when his dad was first drafted.

I am also hopeful Ben Crawford returns for more time at the Hawks this year.

It's more that they're so vastly different.

FWIW, I heard from others who have been impressed by Reeves this off season, which is mainly why I was so surprised at BH23's take.

I think the club is comfortable with Reeves and his development, as we did hand him 3 or 4 year contract last time, if my memory serves me correctly. I take that as a sign of confidence.

Newmo can disagree that’s fine, it’s a forum

I was early on Meek being the number 1 last year

Reeves shows out in club sims because he is aware of our plans and situational requirements of the other ruckmen

In a game he just taps it wherever and is easily read

Anyone who watched the dogs practice match last year would be aware of this

Reeves is in the best shape of his career and is taking marks both in f50 and defense. It's a much closer run thing this year.

Reeves dominated the taps in the first 2 qtrs today Meek came back strong in the second half with just taking his space worked his way into winning the taps.

Meek had a shot on goal early with a contested mark hit the post. Reeves returned the favour in the last for a snap and goal

The four young boys didn't participate in the match simulation. They watched on, but joined some of the kicking and handballing drills.

Thanks for another training report!

Any intel re Cooper Hodge nominating Hawks father-son as his preference for National Draft this year?

If you're the Hodges even if you want him to go to Hawthorn surely you keep that under wraps and make the most of being at Brisbane's academy until you need to make a decision.

FWIW Brisbane are confident.
