Why do you highlight one game. What else has he done in 4 years. For heavens sake his overall output is average which reflects the way he trains. He and Jetta are two of the worst endurance runners at the club and play the way they train.
Totally Agree. 90% of our current problems would not be there or never eventuated if we drafted well.
I'm sick of the political speak that comes out from the Club such as CC and CS telling us that we will have a bi-fold door of opportunities for premierships once we get games into players. That...
If we get draft penalties and fined for this and other clubs aren't also penalised I think the Club should take it to court. If we are the only club that accepts these penalties we will be laughed at by Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, St.Kilda and West Coast.
You can bet Eddie wouldn't take the...
Strauss is out of contract. So are the following:
OOC (in number order) Bartram, Bennell, Petterd, Strauss, Cook,
Jurrah, MacDonald, Jetta, Davis, Spencer, Bail, Sellar
I agree. Really would be a great get. Mentioned him to Mark Neeld at one of the coaches forums. I said that he reminded me of a young Jason Dunstall. He thought about that for a moment and said yeah he did a bit didn't he.
I also really like Sam Colqhoun who played at half back fo SA. Averaged...
Yes we chose Jurrah in the PSD but we could have selected Rockliff in the ND instead of say Jetta. Rockliff on TAC Future Stars said the MFC was only going to rookie him.
I know Cook V Darling has been done to death but Cook is still an unknown quantity and Darling would have been excellent foil for Jurrah, Howe, Watts and Green.
We did Pick up Jurrah instead of Rockliff in the PSD but we could have picked him in the National Draft.
I spoke to Cam Schwab at...
Our recruiting is the reason we have been down the lower end of the ladder for many years. Most of our early picks from Travis Johnstone in 1997 onwards have either left the club i.e Luke Molan, Scott Thompson, Nick Smith, Daniel Bell, Brock McLean, Simon Buckley, Cam Bruce.
Those remaining...
Listen thickhead this thread is not about Prendergast its about "The Uncle" making comments about mediocrity and delisting or trading players such as Sylvia, Morton, Bate, Dunn etc. Taking one step back so that
Predergast can take two steps forward with good future picks.
It just so happens...
Agree. Do these early draft picks ring a bell.
2002 Bell, Nick Smith - both gone
2003 Sylvia- never reached potential, McLean- gone
2004 Bate, Dunn - treading water
2005 Jones- just o/k could have got Birchall, Hurn or Higgins , Buckley - playing with premiers
2006 Frawley, Pettard -...
Although it may not be worth anything considering it came from Cam Schwab. When questions were asked at the pre match function before the Darwin game he said that he would be very very surprised if Col wanted to leave the MFC. I got the impression that Colin loves the comfortable confines of the...
We have an average list when you consider what we could have had. Our recruiting over the last decade has been well below many other teams that had selection after us.
2001 Molan, Armstrong, Rogers - All gone
2002 Bell, Nick Smith - gone
2003 Sylvia, McLean - Sylvia average, McLean gone...
I just don't care anymore. I wish he would just pack his bags and go. Would rather reward players that really want to play for the club like Trengove, Watts and Frawley just to name a few. If Scully gets paid above the odds it will come back to bite us later on. It could lead to dissent among...
By the time our light bodied, tall, skinny kids develop they will be eligible for Free-Agency. WC have got 2 or 3 extra years out of Darling. Cook and Fitzpatrick may make it but we have to wait so long to find out. Darling will have 50 games up before these guys reach 10.
Brad Green was asked on radio this week what our future needs are. He said another KP forward would help Watts and Jurrah. BD has also said the same thing on a couple of occasions this year.
I believe another KP back would be good back-up for Frawley and Rivers. Warnock is o/k but makes too...
Re: Jack Fitzpatrick
No disrespect, but in the video the way he moves reminded me of a taller version of Ryan Houlihan of Carlton. Love him or hate him he has been a long-serving consistent player for the blues.
If he is better than him I would be rapt.
A call will have to be made on at least 4 or 5 players that have contracts to 2010. They will no doubt elevate McKenzie and probably Spencer which means the club will have to delist or trade either, Miller, Johnson, Bell, Dunn, McNamara, Jones, Warnock, Strauss or Bartram?
I would think, Miller...
Listening to the radio yesterday it was noted that the far bit of money has been put on Melbourne to finish last. Comment was made that even if we play some reasonable football, we still have a difficult run home and will struggle not to be wooden spooners or there abouts.
After last Sunday's...
Last year we won 4 games trying to tank. This year we will be lucky to win 5 games going flat-chat to win. Wer'e no better than last year. We have light bodied players, soft in the head dept and no decent KP players (apart from Frawley) who can lead the way for the kids.
Chris Connolly was a guest on TAC Future Stars last Sunday and let it be know to Hutcy, Sheehan and Ben Dixon to watch out for Jack Fitpatrick. He WILL be a great Melbourne player. He singled him out from all the other players that are yet to play a game.
I was quite surprised when he said it...
I was at the game and Ryan played very well for his first game. Looks a bit slow and ambles along but knows how to get the ball. A natural footballer, great size (biggish body type) and when he matures and comes under the AFL system he could be very good pick up. Very classy.
If Davey is injured he will make a quick recovery because the game is in Darwin next week. I recon that they will also put in Wona because turtle meat tastes sooo good. The club seems to give the boys a chance to go home with Darwin games.
On the 3AW rumour file this morning it was stated that a certain South-East Council that has a ground named after it, was not very happy with the possible re-introduction of the AFL Reserves competition.
It was mentioned that a considerable amount of money has been spent on upgrading...
James has been great this year and may well derserve another year however, the club needs to look ahead and with the 2010 draft at least 3 players have to be delisted. It is clear that McKenzie and possibly Hughes/Spencer will be promoted from the rookie list
If we participate further in the...
