Love Berry as a top 10 pick. Awesome choice.

BigFooty Official Big Footy 2016 Phantom Draft

I know most clubs pick the best available play at #1, but considering Essendon's list position I think we should be taking an opportunity to address our lack of polish in attacking midfield and forward of centre play. Not sure if you factored these needs in (or agree that they're needs in the...

    RedBulled Mock Draft 2016

Fair argument. Not sure SPP is only 'strong and quick' - he did top the goal kicking test at the combine. I see him as a 15-25 prospect, but there are question marks over his field kicking which may see him slide to where you have him. Either way, I'm interested to see where Drew lands...

Recruiting Trade/Draft Talk III - Zaharakis for a SIG BET?

Who's going to be the slider this year? Going back to 2014 draft we picked up Laverde with Pick 20 - considered a steal at the time. We've got #20 again... could pinch another one on the slide.

    RedBulled Mock Draft 2016

Good phantom draft overall mate. Looking at Essendon's Pick #29, I'm surprised you've got Willem Drew there. He's shown some promise but I'd have Scharenberg, Powell-Pepper and Clarke above him at that pick. What made you go with Drew over these guys?

    Jourdan Canil's 2015 Phantom Draft

Wasn't aware they were locked in. I'm surprised Essendon hasn't upgraded McKenna then, I thought he showed plenty. Very interesting. You're not the first person to suggest that the Parish to Melbourne move is no certainty. If Curnow goes to Melbourne and Parish falls through, I think...

    Jourdan Canil's 2015 Phantom Draft

I wouldn't say that for sure. Melbourne might rate someone like Curnow higher than Parish. There's also speculation they're keen on Oliver, although he'd be unlikely at their first pick.

    Jourdan Canil's 2015 Phantom Draft

Dodoro will probably take five or sixs live picks, and I also reckon one of the spots on the senior list will be filled by McKenna.

    Jourdan Canil's 2015 Phantom Draft

Awesome phantom draft mate. Just wondering what your rationale was for these two going here? Most would have Parish going higher, and I would have thought Francis has to be in the mix here. Like you said, he's just outside top two in this draft.

Recruiting EFC Trade/Draft Talk II with F/A rules in OP - Billings for a fourth rounder the latest rumour

I think he's Fyfe-ish, and could one of the steals of the draft. He's tall, versatile and skilful... Not a bad mix of pros.

Preview Round 15: Geelong v Essendon- Fri 7.50pm June 27th Etihad

We really need to win this game + one against Collingwood or Port to give ourselves a good shot at a finals berth.

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

Thanks mate. 2 votes for Melksham seems relatively fair.

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

He certainly made it sound that way and put a few others in the same boat. A bit of confirmation that it has been affecting some of the players.

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

Just out of curiosity, do the bigfooty votes work on a Brownlow 3-2-1 system? (Don't know where to look)

    Delisted #15: Courtenay Dempsey - Delisted - 28/10

I seriously thought Gleeson was that guy. Don't they have plans to develop him into a HBF? (Corey Enright comparison)

    Delisted #15: Courtenay Dempsey - Delisted - 28/10

Perhaps there's not as much competition as I thought. I'd still maintain that if this is the peak of his powers, it wouldn't be out of the question for someone to take his position.

Retired #26: Cale Hooker - Has announced his retirement at season's end 🍷

Gee I hope he gets AA this year. Cannot help but marvel at the progression this guy has made. Bona fide star backman.

    Delisted #15: Courtenay Dempsey - Delisted - 28/10

Gleeson is a flanker and I'd say the Merrett brothers are too. Besides, flankers that push into the midfield are gold. Thanks for the defensive stats though. That's impressive. Wright was one of Adelaide's best last night with 26 disposals though.

AFL Player # 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Interview with The Age - 20/9

    He was an absolute steal.
  22. B

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

He couldn't hit the side of a barn with his kicking. Now look at him. Still plenty of hope for Jakey to go to an elite level.
  23. B

    Delisted #15: Courtenay Dempsey - Delisted - 28/10

He is good, but so are they, and generally players improve with age. Do you not agree he could be jumped in the pecking order?
  24. B

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

Reminds me of Brad Ebert before Ken Hinkley got a hold of him.
  25. B

    Delisted #15: Courtenay Dempsey - Delisted - 28/10

Don't know how much more upside he's got in his game though. Looking at some of our other upcoming players like Gleeson, Kavanagh, the Merrett brothers etc., I don't think Courtenay's spot in the team is the safest over the next couple of years.
  26. B

Delisted #28: Elliott Kavanagh - Gone to play SANFL

He doesn't get a huge amount of the ball yet, but he just looks composed. Get some games under his belt!
  27. B

    Retired #29: Patrick Ambrose - Officially retired - 11/8

He had a good first half - did against Melbourne too - but he fades out of games. Just needs a bit more fitness.
  28. B

Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

Meh. Not really impressed until he strings more than a few good games together.

    All Australian thread 2014

Boak should probably be in there as well as Lobbe instead of Mumford. It's pretty hard to put Hawks on the field when so many of their best have missed chunks of football.
