I think you're being way too kind to him. He has been given way more opportunities than most but fails to deliver.
Sydney are supposed to be hot to get him - I think we should get a top level centreman in trade.
How about playing the ball instead of the man?
I certainly agree with Cornes that Naughton is not reaching his potential, and I would also include JUH in that category.
Why are you so satisfied with mediocrity? Just a little reminder; the Bulldogs failed to make finals.
What game were you watching? To my eyes it was clear that the team functioned much better with Naughton at CHB.
And what is with all this weeping and wailing about a simple reorganisation to suit available resources? It's not like he loses his mojo by going back. He really looked comfortable...
I'm struggling to see JUH as an AFL player. He's had plenty of chances and has generally failed to impact. Body language doesn't indicate an intense competitor, there's been lots of spin but very little return.
With a forward line that can boast talls like Naughton, Bruce, Buku and soon Darcy I...
So you missed that big mark he took to seal the game? The commentators said he weighs 107kg. I'm sick of the dogs being a team of ineffectual lightweights when the physical pressure is on. If we had a big and hard ruckman we would have finished totl.
So how's that nice loose lockdown policy in Vic working out for you? I'm asking this after working all week, playing golf, having a pub meal with a group of friends last night, and friends around tonight for a BBQ. Covid sure is a pig...
This has been raised here before. I personally love the idea but others generally didn't support it.
Apparently his ticket has been punched and that's all there is to it. We will just continue to do what we have done with him in the past and somehow expect a different result.
WTF? Really...?
Dunkley is a professional athlete. He got an offer too good to turn down and absolutely HAD to throw his hat in the ring in good faith.
He was let down by a big-noting Dodoro and the EFC who made promises they didn't keep.
Dunks stood to make well over an extra $1.4M in his...
Well, firstly they won't have any salary cap left after paying JD (and others) huge overs for a B/B+ player.
I also can't see that they'll have success as a club to add glister to their severely damaged reputation.
They won't have good young players coming through; they sold all of those draft...
"Just for money"
Really? There must be something else because it's only money? He couldn't possibly want to accept $250/300/350K a year extra to what he was making by merely working for a different organisation. It must be because he was deeply unhappy!
He would have to be an idiot to not...
adjective
adjective: staunch; comparative adjective: stauncher; superlative adjective: staunchest1.
very loyal and committed in attitude.
"a staunch supporter of the anti-nuclear lobby"
I think Dunkley has pretty much done exactly the right thing in every regard, and particularly hasn't...
What absolute garbage.
A professional athlete has been offered a lot of money to play at Club E instead of Club B. He has a one-time offer to make an extra $1M+ during his short career. He wants to accept the unsolicited offer but has to accept that he is bound by his contract.
Club B now has...
I don't think so. Bont & Macrae likely, Dunkley & Smith and perhaps Daniel possible, none of the rest. The Bulldogs finished eighth but were a long, long way from top level. We're simply not that good.
IMHO we were a long way from mixing it with the top four. All of them were bigger/stronger/faster/better/more consistent/more systematic in general play.
I can't think of many Bulldogs players who would walk into any of those teams. We need to improve a lot to be in contention next year.
I don't get it. A guy with just 5 AFL games, very ordinary in 4 of them, depth player at best at this stage, 21 and hasn't set the world on fire, but we're hot to pick him up?
We already have Gardner...
I think it's a great idea. Totally changes the dynamic for the player. At CHB you don't really have to make the play, you need to respond to what your direct opponent is doing. You can be totally negative (unless you're sure you're in the clear) and it's a different type of pressure. Goes from...
Do you want me to type slower for you?
Our ruckman - and we only have one in the team - is not physically competitive. It's highly unlikely he ever will be due to his body type; he has 4 years in the system and is still rag-dolled by the opposition.
Why is Grundy a terrible example? He's as good...
I think the inference is that he is not big and strong and aggressive enough to compete with typical opposition. Did you see him get monstered by Grundy a few weeks ago? Not big enough, not strong enough, not good enough.
St Kilda did it to him again last week. Jacobs is licking his lips for...
I think it's a grand idea. CHB plays easier than CHF because you don't have to be as proactive or creative.
Schache has the pace size and endurance to go with any of the power forwards - and he doesn't have to mark it! Bonus! I well remember Bernie Quinlan becoming a dominant player when moved...
