Rumour 2024 Rumours and Speculation Part 2

Interesting concept. I think when clubs can trade two years in advance there could be some absolute howlers when looking back in hindsight. For that reason, they will be very nervous and trade quite conservatively to begin with. E.g. 2025 Round 1 may be worth a 2026 and 2027 round 1. That sort...

What we did with Gunston? I thought the bloke committed in person then text the club saying he was leaving when on the way to the airport?? Pretty sure there’s nothing we could do to be the bad guys in that scenario

Saints have been kissed on the dick if they get a first rounder for Battle. Picks 7 & 8 could be in the same conversation as picks 1 & 2

Interested to know where Bont and Cripps tested for speed and athleticism. There’s obviously a base level that you’d need, but it can’t be everything

Looks pretty good to me. Seems to kick a lot of goals and take a lot of marks for a mid. And his stats say he averaged 26 in the Coates League this year. Not much to complain about…

Is there a go home factor to consider as well? We’ve never had much luck with Vic metro players. Lalor and FOS seem a safer bet from western vic if we can’t get/ don’t want Draper.

Review R19: The Good, Bad and Ugly vs. Essendon

Saints have a few winnable games in the run home. I still think we finish 15th

I think his choice to play Murphy is strange and doesn’t work. Likewise Smith

Yeah he’s not as good as he was at start of the year. Still love him. Smart in tight and doesn’t waste it like Laird.

Also doesn’t seem to have found a natural position yet. He got smoked on the wing.

Yeah I also don’t think Nicks had many other choices. Laird and Dawson both out.

Review R19: The Good, Bad and Ugly vs. Essendon

Mostly agree, but I think Soligo was better than you’ve said and Cook much worse. Dowling is a very smart and natural footballer. Also has a good kick. Need more of those types.

Review Good bad ugly vs Port Adelaide R8 2024

I don’t think you need to be defensive about it. You can’t cherry pick one crime of male on male and use that as evidence of there being no issue. The stats don’t lie.

Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

We’re in a deep, dark, black hole until the late 20’s now. Tippet-gate f*cked our last window and Hamish f*cked the current one.

Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

That’s true. But at least Reid got some things right. From 2016-2019 Hamish drafted 27 players. 13 are still on our list and literally none of them are any good.

Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

Sorry about the rant, but can someone explain to me why Reid gets all the heat in the media but not Ogilvie? Isn’t he picking the players?? Reid has traded in Rankine and Dawson who are probably our only A-grade players. Ogilvie gets credit for Soligo and nobody else at present. He has screwed...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

As soon as I saw that leadership group announcement, I knew our season was done. ROB, Smith, Murphy. It was utterly insane

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

I’d argue that Rozee and Butters alone have given Port another 10 years of competitiveness. There were about 4-5 decisions around trades and drafting that completely screwed us over those 2 years. Hamish shouldn’t be immune to accountability

You forgot the 2018/2019 drafts. That’s what has down the most damage.

Plus whatever we’ve banked in the last few years. There’s no way in hell we’ve been at 100% salary

Recommitted Clayton Oliver [UFA 2030] - clubs are interested, Melbourne willing for the right price

Well I’m sure it will involve GC and WC coming to the party. Won’t be that simple. But if the relationship is that far gone, then you take the best offer and I’m not sure any other clubs will be able to do better.

Possibly 3 picks in the low-mid 20s (Doedee compo), 9, plus a future first. That’s plenty to work something out.

Yep. We’ve definitely got enough to work with. Just need WC to come to the party with Pick 1

Ralph reporting we may get end of first for Doedee now. My maths might be a bit out, but 20, 22 and 25 is worth an extra 700ish points to GC for pick 5. If that’s enough, 5,9 and McAdam surely gets it done. If not, use our 2024 first in some way. No need to entertain Filth, Gollant etc.

Won’t that mean they just have fewer choices to go back home to… so the remaining Vic clubs get even stronger?
