My view is that during the 2022-2024 period we have never had the best list in the competition. The coaching and club culture is what has got us over the line for a 16th Premiership.
I'm extra grateful for the 2023 flag for this reason. We exceeded expectations.
I agree the system is responsible for much of the chaos.
But without watching the replay yet.
IIRC Both Neale goals were a direct result of DM poor defending. The Stengle ( mark and goal from the pocket) was directly due to an awful effort from Moore. And a couple of Cameron's shots at goal I'd...
...accept that from the captain. He gets a lot of praise for his captaincy but imo much of it is due to his public speaking.
I would much rather see N Daicos, Maynard or Pendlebury Captain.
* We really miss Murphy and his dedicated defending, the whole system appears to have collapsed without...
But even in our last clash 2 weeks back, imo Carlton went in with a stronger 22.
A young Carlton supporter today may never see another forward line as stacked as you have now in their lifetime. It's the Franklin, Roughead, Gunston of a previous decade.
I've watched the Pies since the 80's...
Like every side, supporters focus on the weaknesses in their playing group. But imo Carlton has a stronger list than Collingwood. It did last year and in 2022.
Last Friday was one of the really enjoyable Collingwood v Carlton games in my memory.
Nothing will ever top the 'Grim Reaper's game in 2022 but as I fell asleep Friday night I got thinking about my favourite games vs the Blues.
One that always stood out to me was R14 1988 at the MCG. Carlton...
...and GF ticket plus a couple of days at Boxing Day test or ODI/20/20/BBL could be paying over $2000
MCC top membership $844 (or $649 under 25). *and as a bonus you get option to go every MCG AFL game and Final that Collingwood doesn't compete.
Collingwood has been gouging the loyalty of...
Wow. You include 2 players that would make my top 5 despised players. Which would include.
Dale Thomas
Harry O'Brien
Mike Richardson
Mark Williams
Ollie Henry
G'day folks, I've decided to sell / trade of my collection of Collingwood VFL / AFL woolen style jumpers.
I'm looking to replace them with one Long Sleeve VFL era jumper size L. ( Willing to $ or swap)
If anyone is interested, PM me.
I've attached some pics of the jumpers I have to trade.
Yeah he still has some weaknesses. But the kid is only 19yo and his best shows signs of brilliance. As a young forward, I expect him to continue developing and become a really top player.
Our expectations were so low that some now claim this is a win for Collingwood.
Henry will go on to be a top tier AFL player.
Really disappointing result for Collingwood.
Without knowing the details of the contract offer. At the very least, we need to match whatever Geelong might offer.
We will end up regretting we didn't fight harder for this kid.
Trading Henry has the potential to be one of infamous decisions that haunts the club for 15 years.
He has the potential to be a major star of the competition in my opinion. Inconsistent at the moment but he's so young and given such limited opportunity.
Would be madness to trade him now...
If Kruger comes in, then we are probably disadvantaged this week. But maybe it pays off later in the finals series.
Despite our great season, I don't believe we can go all the way with our current forward line.
With the double chance, I think it is worth rolling the dice and trying to get...
That may be the case, but the point still stands.
We lose Grundy to our finals competitors
We gain McStay
And our TPP position remains about the same. It's not good business in my mind.
I'm very keen to remove Grundy's contract but if we were forced to continue paying $300k, then I would...
But the $700k ($650k) is going straight to McStay from all reports.
So under that deal it becomes almost a straight swap Grundy for McStay and that's not smart trading.
Grundy is overpaid. It was a terrible contract to offer him. But if we have to chip in the $300k p/ season I just don't see...
He's not useless. But he is over-paid and his contract is a millstone.
If we could get rid of him without paying any further more of his contract, it's a no brainer for me.
But if we continue paying $300k p/ season as reported, then it doesn't make any sense.
$300k for Grundy plus $650 for...
I think he's great. Informative and honest.
One of the very best in the business, along with Lloyd and Buckley.
He wasn't barracking for Collingwood, so what? He's Port Adelaide why would he?
Correct.
What people don't see watching on the tv is how incredibly unfit (or injured) he is.
I watched him closely behind the play last night. He could not physically keep up with Mumford - Mumford of all people!
There were times Mumford started 20 meters behind him and was able to run past...
Absolutely critical moment in the clubs history coming up.
A new and inexperienced President who's likely first task will be to attract a new senior coach.
It's a concern.
Ed in his prime was a President who always dreamed big, no coach was un-gettable. Someone with the credentials of Alistair...
