Except when it's us losing players like treloar and Grundy, then it's also fair we get reemed and we should think it's a good deal to...

End of the day we have improved the list overall and happy with the ins in terms of recruits.

Does not mean I feel we traded well and "won" in any sense of the word.
What does Treloar have to do with this trade period? I mean maybe the Grundy stuff because you were one of the ones that rated him despite his thoroughly average footy v his pay grade the past 3 years, but that’s not where I’d be planting my flag.

Great trade period.

Lost 2 players who arguably could be or should be best 22 but weren't this year.

But replaced them with 3 best 22 players, all big needs.

Worst part is our draft hand next year is pretty shitty but our hand this year isn't so bad.

No reason why we can't get back into the draft next year...

How?

We offered 41 for Mitchell and Hawks wanted rumoured 27, should of landed somewhere in between.
Picks 41 and 50 bring it close to par.

We effectively lost Henry for 25 as Stephens is not coming to us.

Hawks benefited.
I would suggest 41&50 were near useless to us.

Also would suggest we probably got a wage discount for enabling them to get cooper 👍

Calling it a win. Be positive FFS lol

I only have to watch Fox's coverage of the 2018 prelim to bring a smile to my face when Ralph's annoying me.

From smug to face like a slapped a*se in two quarters.
Pitty he just has to watch the last five minutes of the 2018 GF to put that smile back on his face.

We effectively gave up Henry for Mitchell and pick 25.

We were only going to use 2-3 picks in the draft this year so the 41 & 50 were nothing picks for us.

Go into the draft with 16, 25 & 27 with the potential to move up the order.

It's all personal opinion but overall I am satisfied.

Yep, problem with glass half empty types who want to seperate the Mitchell and Henry trades is they’re effectively claiming Geelong gave Cooper Stephen’s, a former first round draft pick, to Hawthorn for absolutely nothing in return, not even a token draft pick…

Our expectations were so low that some now claim this is a win for Collingwood.

Henry will go on to be a top tier AFL player.

Really disappointing result for Collingwood.

Did the best we could do in a shit situation. Wanted to leave... We offered him a contract through the year but always wanted to head back "home".
What else could they have done?

Tell ya what, if we can bundle our picks and get a top ten this year, and steal the next Selwood, I would call that a win you

My (player postion) recap:
In: Hill Out: Henry
In: Frampton Out: Roughead
In: McStay Out: McMahon
In: Mitchell Out: C.Brown
In: Pick 16 Out: T.Brown
In: Pick 25 Out: Poulter?
In: Pick 27 Out: Grundy
In: Noble (upgrade) Out: Magden?

Rookie List:
In: Poulter? Out: Chugg
In: Magden? Out: Keane

One of the picks in the 20s will need to be a ruckman to replace Grundy. I want the best ruck in the draft, Harry Barnett. Hopefully he makes it to pick 25, so we can use 16 on best available.
