Extreme take..
I wouldn't call Kennedy shit and Owies is a handy player
We have to many of the same type which is the problem with Kennedy and him wanting to play midfield
Owies is handy but defensively on the rebound is a liability which means it's probably time to move him on
Limited time with Harry & Charlie I'd agree, but he did originally played as a forward in the VFL until the coaches put him in the backline to learn.
It will interesting to see how he come on next year
I see it as a stop gap solution. Laverde is 28 turning 29 and he will fill a role while Kemp continues to grow out of his bad habits as a defender and learn his craft.
He's 23 so has time on his side as a kpp to learn.
However I do have concerns he may become a "what if" player. He has some...
If it gave Kemp more time to develop I'd agree, Laverde is the better option at the moment.
However I'm not sure if I see Kemp as a forward. He seems to struggle with forward craft /leading patterns. He tends to lead his defender directly towards contests he should be drawing them away from in...
In fairness the guy was injured most the year. Kinda hard to judge if he will be a success for them based off this year because of it. He may be a player who doesn't live up to his draft capabilities but I suspect a few more games are required at St Kilda prior to say he's a bust for them too...
His body is done. Some players no matter the talent just can't deal with the rigours of AFL football.
Keeping him on the list would be pointless, first heavy contact or over extension of a muscle will result in him back on the injury list. Seems like a great guy who's talent /career didn't...
I'd love to have Houston if we didn't have other glaring issues on our list. He's a genuine A-grader
His disposal is brilliant and he would be the cherry on top of the cake if our other needs weren't so blatantly obvious
If he does come across i hope he is allowed to play with the freedom/...
The shouts of crazy vossy will be loud and clear if that happens
Kemp showed something as a forward in one game, and it was against West Coast. (Some prospective needed here)
When he played with Harry in the final he just kept getting in the way. His forward patterns lead his defender straight...
I'd like a serious discussion to be undertaken internally on Adam Simpson or a tactical coach being brought in to assist Voss.
Also for Voss to be warned he needs to change his mindset on his way being the right way and listen to the person in this position, as that is what they are being...
I personally don't think it is 100% team selection or 100% the intent of the players in the first half.
I believe both arguments are a reflection of one another.
When you bring in 6 underdone players you are asking for the remaining 16 players to step up to cover their rustiness, lack of form...
To be fair, most the posts I have seen haven't been attacks.
Most posts highlight he is a "gun" player when fit and in form, but unfortunatly this season hasn't been his season due to injuries and form.
There is nothing wrong with that, if a player can't get consistently on the park to get in...
So you have Acres on one wing so he can't play both. He wanted Docherty in the midfield so that rules him out and Cottrell is not a winger as has been shown by his form when playing there
It is why we recruited Acres and why we drafted Ollie & Binns
Also as I previously said about Cowan it was...
Based on need not because he was was giving kids the opportunity.
We were always a winger short because he wanted Docherty in the midfield and that's is the same reason we were a back short too.
Cowan played 7 games and was dropped when senior players were available.
Wow, talk about taking a Big Swing/ Risk
6 players coming in when they have been off injured..
Aside from my personal opinion on rushing players in and its fallout historically, I do not see why Cerra is in that team line up. His form this year is a shadow of what he is capable of and I can't...
That's a fair point, but I'd be worried about the stability of the knee when rushing him back into a contact sport.
Also this is his 3rd ACL, what does that mean psychologically when going into a high impact collision. We know he is a strong person but how confident is he going into a contest...
Emotionally i love thay Doc is in, but logically i struggle with rushing players back in from serious injuries, particularly into a finals campaign
While I love his heart and professionalism I wonder if we are setting ourselves up for an in game issue. We have seen how rushing back players...
Thanks for update :)
Personally I think its the wrong decision and I think rushing players in has been a major issue this year and detrimental to the team as well
But here's hoping he plays well and come out uninjured if true
I'll start by saying I don't think Doc should be gone, but it does raise an interesting question with him.
3 ACLs affects the youngest of players who generally have a better recovery chance, because unfortunately age does play a part to how a body bounces back, and he is an aging player
Will...
If you put the Binns dart passing ability into Ollie he would be on his way to being an AA winger in the future.
He has plenty of time on his side to improve his disposal tho.
Can't ask for more than he gave today. Same can be said for 99% of the team today.
End of the day it shouldn't have...
Out of those on the bench, I'd like Binns, Durdin & Lord to stay in the team
Lord - faded in the second half but he will now know the endurance he needs to work to, to see out games. He was just so clean in tight and really good defensively with his tackling.
Binns - the opposite. He really...
Few unsung players worth mentioning
Resident Wipping Boy Young - did nothing spectacular but did some good things and help cover Weitering & McGovern a few times
Pittonet- that was the form he showed prior to injury. He has it in his wheel house to be a serviceable Ruck, he played well today...
