reckon the afl will go easy on draft pick sanctions if there's likely to be player bans- otherwise essendon may as well shut up shop. be a long way back from 2 years of no good picks plus 12+ players sitting out for 6-12 months and all the other trimmings.
IF no players get banned though, then...
but they did 'cheat' though right?
cheating = breaking the rules to try and get an advantage right?
...and this is what happened? right?
is there a manslaughter version of cheating maybe?
I understand why they don't want to be branded as 'cheaters' but I'm sure the Blues and Adelaide didn't...
What if It turns out Jobe was among the players not to have been administered the drug i.e. in the 'control' group as part of Dank's maverick science operation? The players all signed up to recieving whatever was on offer and were given a range of 'drugs' OR not- so from Jobe's point of view he...
yeah - i agree Baldur. Just trying to work out what Hird et al know that we don't that might 'protect' the players. It would need to be a corker like some kind of criminal sub-plot they were caught up in or they are just quite simply deluded.
yeah- that's why they might be so confident the players will be fine.
essendon and reid hoodwinked by dank, players get advice from their doc as they are told to do- he refers them to the info he has and the green light is given.
essendon and reid cop a whack as they should have known better...
if, say, essendon folk were knowingly deceived by Dank into thinking the supplements they took were approved/ok via forged information would this be enough to absolve them from any wrongdoing? Presumably not as they are still required to do their own due diligence but just wondered if this might...
sorry- you guys have probably been over this point at length. i'm a late comer but just wondered why the letter needs to be a big deal other than the fact essendon seems to have been duped
Kinda not exactly my point Mojo. Let's say there IS a letter and/or midguided written advice but Essendon (and Dank) contrived it's existence in order to reduce their penalty if it came to this. I don't think this did happen but it could and if any subsequent penalty is reduced to reflect...
I'm not suggesting that Essendon did this but.... what is stopping any sporting club or individual concocting a 'fake or postulated letter' scenario from a person advising them about substances to take as a backstop when things go pear-shaped? Seems a particularly good strategy when the...
