Geez It's Been Worth It by Albert Ebert has some of Russell's thoughts on this. From memory North Melbourne were smashed with injuries that year and Ron Barassi was distracted with outside commitments away from football.
I can only think of Julia Teakle being available to back up Matilda in the ruck unless there is a DFA available.
A rookie ruck is a requirement in the draft.
Disappointing to lose a talented footballer but if you are not happy you move on. For such a low pick (3rd round) there must still be some doubt about her playing again.

Again with the Ella Heads to Port Adelaide.
I posted that in the General AFLW Talk Thread yesterday.
I should learn how to like that post to this one.

You can only ask.
In an article on AFT Website the other day I did read that Charlie is still uncontracted but rival clubs believe she will commit to a new deal.
Article mentions Ella Heads is expected to join Port Adelaide from Sydney.
Ella is a Key Defender at 175cm. Debut 2022 and has played 33 games. 21 years. Might be the replacement for Ange...
I don't think I saw her once singing the club song at the end of a game with the rest of the team but I was only watching on TV. I did not attend any games so I cannot tell if she was at the ground either.
Hopefully she sees how much this group has improved and wants to be involved.
Lot's of smiles at the Captains Run today.

Patiently waiting for some Black Friday sales so I can buy Star Wars lego. The X wing and Tie Fighter combo. I cannot justify $799 for Jabba's sail barge even though it would be cool to own that piece.
I find it very therapeutic putting it together.
I am not a geek or so I tell myself.
Matilda just needs to start taking more marks around the ground. A few dropped marks on Saturday night allowed Hawthorn repeat forward entries.
Get that part of her game right and Matilda will be in the one of best players in the competition. Almost there now. :)
