I like Sturt but he wasn't at 2 goals per game last season (it was ~1.6 goals/game), and has been well under that in the past so I think some are being generous about his actual achievements.
Like theGav56 said, his point of difference is his medium height combined with speed and accuracy...
Gav raised the players we could really see some internal organic growth from.
NOD and Sturt are 2 who could essentially still fade away to nothing in terms of AFL career, but both appear to have ceilings that could be beneficial to the team.
If both could take some steps this year it could have...
Drastic difference there between Matera and Baker.
I think Wilson would be a closer approximation, we have up an F2 and some late pick swaps at the end of 2017 and by the time we were actually pushing he was a non-contributor, although still only 29.
No idea about the running, but he slotted a nice goal during one of the movement drills.
I didn't see Narkle on Monday, but it was The West I think said he was on the bike with Young.
Not that I noticed specifically, what I saw was the standard in close type of drill.
Not to labour the point, but that was something Fyfe actually did well last year, some of his handballs really unlocked some forward movement.
I agree it should be something in the arsenal for the right time.
I did think of you when I saw those kicks, but in my opinion his handballing was absolutely elite in the first half of last season, so much so I saw opposition put some work into restricting his space.
I'm not saying he shouldn't be phased out but I see how he can still add value.
So I'll start with the important stuff first, Davies wasn't wearing a hat.
Now I've got that out of the way, I didn't make it down for the full session but I got to see maybe ~75 minutes until I bailed when the rain came.
I arrived after the warm up and initial drill, but I've included a pic...
I saw Brayshaw, Amiss, Jackson and Pearce for sure.
I didn't specifically notice Serong and Young but I'll check my photos and do a short write up a little later.
I'm assuming no one knows, but any idea when they train next?
I called the club at the end of last week and the best I got is they will likely update the page on Sunday or Monday, which isn't that helpful when I was trying to see if they'd be training Monday to get down.
I'd agree with all of them you've listed, with McDonald and Worner the most likely to potentially extend, although not more than 1 of them I'd think.
Erasmus, Davies, Narkle and Aish would be in the next tier or thereabouts.
Brodie is also worth a mention, although he'll still be contracted.
The people making the decision also have significantly more info than us popcorn eaters.
There doesn't have to be a conspiracy or "photos" or the usual tropes that gets trotted out.
Just to be clear I'm not suggesting they don't get it wrong, but making decisions is always tougher than it looks...
I've noticed this phenomenon across many teams, this idea the coach doesn't have the "guts" to drop certain "favourites".
I mean if they believed it would make the team better there's very few cases I believe they'd keep them in the team.
More likely in my mind, and which I've spoken about...
