Garry Lyon spent Wednesday at the club, and on radio this morning was full of praise for the club and said he loved JT.

Didn't give much away as he had to sign an NDA to get full access.

The huge problem with articles like this is the prominence it gives to dumb campaigners' comments. more than likely they love the exposure and it will encourage them to do more and worse.

It also completely distorts the impression of the general public. Maybe only 2-3% would agree with these views and the way that they have been expressed. But it looks and feels like they have a substantial backing.

All up very unhelpful. Disappointing from Dani, I usually like her general footy writing.
Yep. See the Goodes booing debate. The more the media made of it, the worse the trolls played on it. It’ll absolutely get worse now thanks to that article.

I don't remember them tbh.
If Hill launched from right half forward, I was on the wing/ left half forward flank with my son who was 13 at the time & one of my mates that I still go to the footy with, & it is that bloke's birthday today. Onya Robbo

She should have been given life membership for her "Let's f***ing go" rip (maybe she was).

The latest Sacked podcast features Damian Drum which is good listen (part 2 covers his time at Freo).

He doesn't seem to regret or begrudge his time at Freo (even though he had a choice between the Collingwood and Freo jobs). Acknowledged that he took on a youth policy with Freo which is partly true - i.e he kept the top picks in 98 and 99 to get Jlo, Pav, Haselby, and Brown.

Interestingly in 2000, we were in conversation to get David King (and he was keen to move to Freo) but then Bell became interested late and we went for Bell instead.

It did make me wonder, if we won a few more games early in 2001 (and we were up to our eyeballs in a lot of them), and Drum was given one more year, with a continued youth policy at the super draft, things may have been very different for our club. Anyway, not to be. It's part of the legend of the club.

Drum was obviously critical of the way he got sacked (finding out by the media) but that's fair enough. We fu%ked that up.

Explains why King hates Freo so much.

As for the Hill goal I was sitting on the floor 2 feet from the TV screaming. My profile pic is still the one of Hill walking off the field that day.

I met Damian a few times when he was our coach and he seemed a genuine good bloke.

That interview with Barich in a car park telling him he had been sacked was cringeworthy and not our greatest moment and he deserved better than that.

He left us better than he found us with regard to youth but he was a bit out of his depth with the head coach role.

The fact that he doesn't bear a grudge speaks volumes of him, David King on the other hand has never reconciled with it!
