Movie DC Universe - News, updates and discussion

There’s a pretty vocal set of Snyderverse tragics actively willing the entire DCU to fail so that the Snyderverse can be reinstated (which is totally delusional). It’ll be interesting to see if they show up for opening weekend regardless or if they leave a bit of a hole. If the first DCU film...

    Movie The Batman (2021) SPOILERS!

There’s a report from the director of The Brave and the Bold that that film has also been delayed so there’s a chance they’re trying to link it. Either way I doubt Gunn wants two continuities. The Joker continuity is a dead duck now so he’s down to two…

Even our finishing improved a bit as the year went on. We got smacked out of the middle in the EF and our problems flowed from there. I think that’s why we targeted some big bodied mids. If we continue our form line generally from about round 9 we will have a good year.

While we have a few youngsters with serious ability I think Sam has the most upside. Seems absolutely loyal to the club which is great. Richards usually extends pretty early so hopefully he and Bont and wrapped up by the end of the preseason.

I think there was an ok idea in there somewhere that was horribly executed. Collingwood and a few others were doing something similar but I suspect their players had a clear idea of when to do it and when not to and ours couldn’t get it right. Thankfully everyone has moved on.

#51- Welcome to the Bulldogs Sam Davidson

You’d think he, Kennedy and West would more or less replace Harmes, Daniel and Macrae from our finals side.

Pick 20# Welcome to the Bulldogs Cooper Hynes

The other thing is our biggest bodied midfielder is hurtling towards 30. In four years we won’t be able to rely on him. Richards, Garcia, Sanders and Gallagher aren’t going to be pushing many other beasts off the ball.

Pick 20# Welcome to the Bulldogs Cooper Hynes

I get he’s not lighting quick but in his highlights reel he looks like he has a fine top speed. Looks like he will fill out nicely and be a big body in the middle. Clearly by adding him and Kennedy we’ve identified it as a need. The fact he can be damaging forward is a big plus.

Movie Marvel Cinematic Universe - News, updates and discussion

One of the talking heads on Twitter made a good point on this one - Ali is the lowest common denominator. He’s the one who came to Marvel with the pitch. They’ve changed directors, writers and release dates over and over. It could be related to him.

I think the word trust has become way overused in AFL circles. Trust him to do what? It’s him using that word, but what does he mean? If he means they didn’t trust him to execute bullet passes out of defence I’d agree with them - he’d become unreliable - but that really just means he’s out of...

It was a bit of a happy accident we even retained those leaders. The only one McCartney rated was Roughy. Cooney spoke about it a few weeks ago and, while it aligned a fair bit with what had been said here over the years, it was still bizarre hearing how close to total self-immolation the...

About right. I think the odds of picking a gem untried mature player (ie Picken, Dicko, Morris, Boyd) is a fair bit higher. Would rather go down that path.

I suggest we give up the mental gymnastics about a change of environment or a delisting being the spark some hack needs to kickstart his career and look at players who haven’t just been shafted by clubs who are desperate for talent on their lists.

List Mgmt. “It’s a form of tanking” the Richmond rebuild

It wasn’t a criticism of Richmond. The draft is a lottery and having a raft of early picks doesn’t always mean a good haul. Plenty of clubs have had a strong hand and torched it.

Strategy Trade and List Management Thread Part 7 (opposition supporters - READ posting rules before posting)

If a draft is that thin by the 20s you’re probably best off trading the pick. Clubs overrate picks in the 20s. Might have been able to get into the next draft or use it to draw a player. To be fair, I think our philosophy has been in recent years that first round picks are paramount but later...

Lloyd is stuck in Essendon’s glory days and it’s an affront to his reality that the Bulldogs, supposedly the poor cousin from the West, won a flag the same year Essendon had most of their list suspended for cheating. He’s never gotten over it.

I remember us getting rated the best performer in the 2008 draft by Emma Quayle after getting Cordy, Jones and Roughead. The last two had good careers but it took a while and the first was a bust. You can’t rank clubs’ trade and draft periods until they’ve had time to play out.

It’s on the AFL website now. You don’t usually let high(ish) draft picks go after two years so the other factors hinted at in this thread probably did it.
