Like the pick, by the end of 2026 Libba will 100% be off the list and Treloar more than likely also. Add in we just traded out McRea and Sniff with Bont also being 31 by then, the midfield needs replenishing.

Confident we can address the small defender and small forward issue later in the draft/free agency next year. The OOC gun mids we just don't attract and need to address through the top end of the draft.

As much as i believe Sanders will be a really solid player for us we sold the farm for him which affected an early pick for us this year. The cascade affect of that pick might haunt us as this year seemed to be very top heavy with speedy mids.
Now at picks in the late 20s I'm not sure we are going to pick up Chris Judd. Speedy players that are not great with the ball do nothing for us.

Yet, we play Laitham Vandermeer every week and we traded out Macrae for junk.

Agreed. Aside from midfield speed, the big bodied mid is what we need. What was one of our biggest issues in the final?

Too easily pushed off the ball. Got to stop that. Got to get more hardness in.
The other thing is our biggest bodied midfielder is hurtling towards 30. In four years we won’t be able to rely on him.

Richards, Garcia, Sanders and Gallagher aren’t going to be pushing many other beasts off the ball.

We got rid of the Cotton On insta w@anker that was more worried about his brand and looking pretty.
Statically regressed at kicking goals and hitting targets up in the fwd line..... to now getting a hard nut, competitive beast that lives for a contest.
Looks like an upgrade on the insta w@anker to me.

I also am keen on the pick, I love Libba but he can't go on forever, and having another hard nut competitive beast learning off the best is a must.

We still aren't a destination club by virtue of lack of exposure to big games on the AFL calendar.
The dogs aren't going to get nominated by AA players so will have to develop our own.

Remember when there were some of us thinking Bont was a risky selection in 2013 and that Aish was a better option?

Ah good times. Kinda shows not to go too early on judging these draftees.

Also to put drafts into perspective, I dare anyone to go back and look at our 1995 'haul'.

Allen Jakovich with pick 9, Tony Campbell, Mark West and Todd Curley.

Curley was handy, West was OK for a bit, but a finished Jakovich at 9. Wowsers. Grim.

Ironic that people are reacting negatively on here as I expect he will quickly become a fan favorite.
He looks like a big kid who knows how to use his body and we are desperate for a harder edge in our team.
I'm seeing more Cam Zurhar than anyone at this stage although maybe more midfield scope.

I would have been stoked to get him.

But they've gone into meltdown because they didn't get Smillie and they think they have no midfielders
Travaglia has scope to become an exciting midfielder in time but will be a very good player off halfback in the mean time
I want on the swans board and a few of them want into meltdown over the Dattoli and Bowman selection
I think all supporter bases have a mentality of the grass always being greener on the other side

Best case scenario to me is probably Matt Kennedy, ironically. Maybe Ben Keays in time, if he can get his fitness right up.

Every year. Go back as many years as you like (save for a select few) and there's always a sense of 'We should have got him/dud pick/we missed out big time/what were we thinking?/why aren't we addressing our needs?/Sack Sam Power.

Rinse and repeat. Gets a bit tiring.

Whe Twomey mocked him to us I was disappointed, but this video that someone posted in the draft thread changed my mind (namely from 4:00 onwards). He's actually got some lovely touch I reckon, something I hadn't seen anyone say about him - some moments of finesse that I wasn't expecting. Plays with great energy and strength. There's a lot of upside here. He was clearly the best player available in my mind, it's a good pick.

Great highlights.

Not as slow as first thought. He’s got some real pace once out in space.

If it clicks for this kid, he could be a genuine gun. Great night, huge build, can take a mark and can kick goals.

Club needs to let this kid simmer next year in the VFL while he builds a tank and turns some of the puppy fat in to muscle.

See how comes out in 2026.

Left field idea, but if he doesn’t make it as a mid, I could see a role down back.

Good mark, strong, seems to read the ball ok from limited footage. Also has some aggression. Similar height and reminds me a little of Steven May.

Would lean towards that more than a medium forward role. Particularly considering our current forward options.

First hope is genuine gun mid obviously.
